McFarlane: Finish the Teams, Please?

Anyone else desperate for McFarlane to round out the Blue and Osiris team action figures?
Arguably the two most interesting and colorful characters (armor-wise), and some of the few female AFs.
Any info on Series 3?

I’ve seen the new Mattel Linda-058 in stores, just a few days ago. McFarlane is done. She’s the right size, but looks a little more “toy-ish” as opposed to “collector-ish”.

I wish McFarlane had finished Osiris & Blue Teams as well, but it’s over.

That’s a shame … seems a little shoddy to leave rthem undone.
Did Linda have Nornfang?

Yes, she comes with Nornfang, looked pretty accurate.

I would guess any blame would lie with Microsoft, there seems to be a push to make Halo more of a market for kids. The Mattel figures appear to be a bit more poseable, and therefore better for imaginary battles. The Boomco “nerf” guns, Mega Blocks, the new more toy-ish (i.e., actually play with them) figures - I get the impression Microsoft wants a piece of what Star Wars, Marvel, Transformers, etc, etc have in the toy aisle. I will say my kids are rather excited, though, and they do play with their McFarlane figures, and want the Mattel ones. The Boomco guns are pretty cool - the darts are more solid than Nerf ones, so you receive a bit more of a wallup if you get hit.

OP this thread will probably be moved to the general discussion forum.

I have the Linda, and a few other Spartans from McFarlane’s toy series, not too shabby, just wish they were a little bit more “move-able,” can’t get them to stand up right for the life of me!

They won’t. Annoys me like crazy they didn’t finish them.

I said I wasn’t going to get the Mattel ones after that first preview of them, but now after some refinement they look a little better, plus they’ll be easier to fix the paint with the removable armour. They aren’t as pretty as the McFarlane ones but at least you can pose them. Only thing that annoys me is the build a figure thing they did, now I feel obliged to buy the whole set instead of cherry picking the main characters out.

I really hope they don’t take their damn time making all the main characters but I can absolutely see it happening. They’ll mooch us for as much money as they can, probably releasing two characters each wave until everyone has almost all the characters and then they will “forget” to make Buck or something.

Still, I’m a sucker and will probably end up getting them anyway.

I agree OP. I’m sad we’re not getting any Grunts or the Arbiter either. Imagine the Arbiter in that new armor!

I’m still irritated over the fact that McFarlane lost the license without having finished off either team. The Mattel figures don’t actually look as bad as they did in the initial stock photos, but they still don’t look like they would fit in with the McFarlane figures because they lack the slightly worn look of of the McFarlane figures.

Well had they priced them more reasonable they probably would have sold enough to keep them going.

Approximately $15 USD seems reasonable enough for a fully painted 6" figure to me. It makes more sense than the $20 USD that Toys R Us wants to sell Transformers Combiner Wars Deluxe class figures at. I would like to add that TF:CW Deluxes are about the same height as McFarlane figures and have significantly less paint.

As a collector, that really bums me out man.

The contract for toy making has shifted over from McFarlane to Mattel. McFarlane is no longer a licensed Halo figure maker. Mattel probably wouldn’t have agreed to the deal unless there was some exclusivity. Not sure why this happened, but maybe since Mattel makes figures that are more for playing and less for collecting, 343i saw an opportunity to appeal to a younger demographic with the Halo toys.

343i, making fans into haters.

The Mattel figures are $19.99, more expensive than the McFarlane’s.

Thanks for the heads up…I probably should have put it there in the first place.

Heck to the yes…a REAL nod to H2 Anniversary.

Well, if you’re handy with paint, you csn always ‘touch up’ the Mattel figures, which is what I’ll probably be doing. Dry-brushing some base silver at the edges gives it a more fatigued, McFarlane-y look. “Authentic battle DAMAGE!!!”

Me too. Love your Shinobi.

Let’s keep in mind that McFarlane had the opportunity to make all of Blue Team and Osiris plus some other characters but instead we got Locke, Buck, Tanaka, Kelly, Fred, Chief, and repaints of Helljumper, Hermes, Centurion, and Athlon.

McFarlane had plenty of chances to make official characters but instead took the lazy route and repainted the same figures three times over.

At least Mattel got a Linda figure in their first wave and a MB figure for Vale exists shortly after Halo 5 came out.
