MCC Unfinished File Share & Theater

I’m wondering if anyone has any information on if they’re planning on continuing working on the File Share & Theater features or if they aren’t.

For those of you who don’t know, File Share & Theater modes all across MCC are unfinished.

File Share is missing half of it’s features as you can’t record a video nor take a picture. In turn this also removes the features of recording videos and taking picture away from theater mode.
Theatre mode is also missing the ability to fast forward clips, so you wouldn’t have to watch back a dozen+ minute match in real time to get to a portion of the video. This makes using theatre mode very tedious and annoying.

I’m on an Xbox Series S and I really find it annoying that all of my theater mode clips get removed once I close down the game. I never had this problem on the Xbox One family.

The solution to this is that you use the built-in video recording feature that the Xbox One and Xbox Series has. If you’re on PC then find some software that works for you. I agree that it would be cool to cut clips, I remember how it all worked on the Xbox 360, but it isn’t a priority and wouldn’t be worth doing because big updates to the game break theater recordings.

There is a fast forward button. Check your key bindings or controls.

That sounds like a bug. Have you sent in a support ticket? On PC, theater files are stored for the 12 most recent matches as " .mov " files (they are not actually video files) ranging from 0.7MB to 50MB in size. Maybe your storage is so close to being full that the game is getting rid of it to save on space?

Bit of a self promotion for PC players: I made a program that backs up all theater and carnage files so you don’t have to worry about the 12-file limit:

Since 343 didn’t want to fix that themselves.

Hah, go figure. I never noticed the fast forward feature since it’s double bound with switch player view by default so I never held it down.

Also sadly skip forward doesn’t work even when I rebind it, but thanks now theatre will only be twice as slow to watch back. Also I usually use Windows Key + G for recording my first person PoV.

I will have to check this out later for sure. Thank you so much for sharing your work with the community.

Skip forward unfortunately can’t work because the game has to simulate the game inputs in a linear order so that it can create that point. It will work if you skip backwards in time though. That can also be finicky because of the sporadic and sometimes unexpected ways the game will automatically create save points while reviewing a theater match. I find that it’s not always at the most convenient moment but usually it’s not too much trouble.

There is a trick where you can get the game to keep fast forwarding without holding the button down. On PC you can simply alt+tab or switch away from the game while it’s doing that and the game will act like it’s still going. There’s something similar I remember doing on 360 but I don’t remember the steps anymore. It’s been a long time.
