Has anyone else noticed stuttering and a slight pause/delay each time you get a checkpoint during the campaigns of CE and 2? I was doing the cross game playlist challenge and I noticed it happening pretty much every time. It was worse in 2, especially playing in Anniversary graphics. It’s kind of like when you go through a loading zone, but a little more noticeable. Prior to this season I never noticed that.

It’s not just you. I have noticed it several times too, at least once per game, and I don’t do anything else that’s demanding on my internet at the same time.

That’s in the known issues for fps drops. It’s also been happening for years on console mainly with CE.
Multiplayer, PvE, and Misc./Other Feedback MCC Halo Game: All Titles Feedback: Several Challenges have poorly chosen criteria or are missing applicable elements for completion
The Seasonal PvP Challenge **“Montage Starter Kit”’**s description is to get headshots in matchmaking, however upon further inspection of the challenge one can find that this challenge can only be completed with the Battle Rifle. Given that headshots are something that any precision weapon can obtain, from magnums to sniper rifles, and that the challenge description doesn’t mention having to use the BR, I believe that this challenge’s criteria should be changed to work for all precision weapons that can achieve headshot kills, rather than just the BR. This change would allow players to use the Sniper Rifle, DMR, Magnum, Covenant Carbine, Needle Rifle, Light Rifle, Beam Rifle, etc. It just doesn’t make sense to me to limit a challenge like this to just one weapon when there are so many more that can accomplish the same thing, especially when some Halo games don’t include the BR. What if you prefer to play Halo Reach or Halo CE? You might score dozens of headshots with those games’ precision weapons only to find that your progress on “Montage Starter Kit” is still at 0% because you weren’t playing a BR Halo game. To limit this challenge to just the BR is illogical imo and I do not see any reason for it to remain this way. Challenges with criteria like getting headshots, something that can be done in any Halo game, should be able to be completable in any Halo game, and not artificially limited.
The weekly PvP challenge “Objective Results” (which asks you to earn objective medals in PvP) is currently missing dozens of applicable medals across all objective gamemodes (and has been for some time), making the challenge much more difficult (and frustrating) to complete than it should be. Simply put, based on this challenge’s description, every medal that is specific to an objective mode should count for this challenge, but that simply is not the case. You might kill the ball holder in Oddball or Ricochet - no progress granted. You might earn a ‘flag defense’ medal in Halo 4 or 2A for killing an opponent who’s assaulting your flag - no progress granted. There are dozens more scenarios like this where some of the most common objective medals earned do not count for this challenge, and so I believe that this challenge’s criteria should be altered to account for every objective mode-specific medal in every objective mode (including assist and assassination type medals). Granted, that greatly increases the number of ways in which the challenge can be completed, and so, I would add that they could increase the challenge’s completion requirement from 10 to 15, 20, or even 25 medals, and it wouldn’t be a problem, provided they actually add every medal. It’s not hard to get objective medals, especially in the newer Halo titles, it’s just hard to complete a challenge when over half the applicable medals don’t count.
The weekly PvE challenge “Heavy Mettle” doesn’t currently include Enforcer Sentinels or Anti-Air Wraiths as applicable heavy enemy types to destroy, and considering that both of these enemies/vehicles are most certainly ‘heavy’, I believe that the challenge’s criteria should be altered to include them.
The weekly PvE challenge **“Car Alarm”**doesn’t currently include the Anti-Air Wraith as an applicable vehicle to use to get kills with, and considering that it can be used in the Halo 3 campaign as well as in Halo 3 ODST’s Firefight mode, I believe that the challenge’s criteria should be altered to include it.
Additional Info: In relation to 2. above, I’ve left several links here with lists of all medals for certain Halo games (H4 and Reach here), though all Halo games are missing some medals with this challenge. Upon comparing the list of applicable medals for “Objective Results” within MCC and the lists I’ve linked here, you’ll find that a majority of the ones that are specific to objective modes like Oddball, CTF, KoTH, Infection, Dominion, Extraction, Regicide, Grifball, etc. are currently missing from “Objective Results”.
MCC Feedback: A list for some things I think could be added to or improved within the MCC MCC Halo Game: All Titles Specific Feedback:see the full list below (not in order of priority)
Quality of Life Improvements and Feature Additions
Adjustable volume sliders for all aspects of the audio in every gamemode: slider for music, dialogue, weapon/vehicle sound effects, environmental sound effects, etc. Between classic music in CE and H2A being simply too quiet and certain moments of other campaigns being just too loud, this feature has been requested before, and it would be so beneficial were it added.
Adding a way to directly back out of a campaign mission after completing it without having to load the next mission. It sounds simple, though I don’t honestly know how simple it is to implement, but I’ve seen this requested before, and as an avid campaign player, it’s another small addition that would be so nice.
The AFK kick timer in the pre-game lobby needs to be removed, as it only serves to punish innocent players in my experience. I still encounter AFK players in games, so I don’t think it’s doing enough to warrant having it compared to how many times I or my friends get kicked from the pre-game lobbies just because we’re doing something else while we wait for a game to start. There have been so many times where I’m searching in a less populated playlist, and the second I find a game I’m removed from the lobby for being AFK, all because I decided to check my phone or do something not in the game to kill the few minutes it took to find a game.
Customizable MUSIC PLAYLISTS. Halo has some of the best and most diverse music out there, so why can’t I customize what music I hear in various menus and at times during gameplay. If I want to hear any Halo song in any mode, or customize a playlist of Halo music to play while playing some Multiplayer or Firefight, or Spartan Ops, or even campaign, I should be able to do that.
Armor Loadouts. With more and more armor coming to various MCC titles, there’s more potential combinations of armor than ever within MCC. I’m someone who likes to mix up their Spartan/Elite armor combinations, it would be so nice to have 5, 10, or more armor presets that we can edit and choose from like with conventional weapon loadouts.
Customizable Menu Backgrounds/Themes and adding LEGACY Halo background menu screens to MCC. MCC has had so many new great animated backgrounds throughout its seasons, and I personally want the option to choose what background shows up in each part of the menu, not just the main menu, but the sub-menus for each game and gamemode as well. Additionally, I think it would be so cool to have the option to bring back the Legacy Halo Title screens as an option for MCC. I’m sure a lot of us have fond memories of the various menu screens from the original release versions of the Halo games over the years, and I for one would love to be able to set the original Halo Reach, ODST, and Halo 4 backgrounds on my MCC.
Fully Custom Button Mapping for Controllers (as it was in the first Infinite Flight). It’s an option for keyboard and mouse, and it was an option for controllers in the first Halo Infinite Flight, so why can’t it be so on MCC? I personally can’t have my ideal control scheme because I don’t have the ability to customize my controller’s buttons fully.
Spartan Ops and Campaign Matchmaking. It was a great addition for Firefight, and I think Spartan Ops especially could benefit a lot from this. As of right now, Spartan Ops is somewhat buried in the Halo 4 submenus, and it’s actually made for 3-4 players, but what if you don’t have anyone to play with at some point? Not having matchmaking for Spartan Ops limits its accessibility and lessens the overall experience of it in my opinion. Similarly, with campaign, having campaign matchmaking provides an opportunity for players without anyone to play campaign with to experience it in CO-OP.
MORE ways to earn Season Points (i.e. on EVERY rank-up not just those after level 100, for owning harder achievements, for getting certain ranks in competitive modes, adding daily challenges that reward them, giving them to players who have been past rank 100 for months now and have been missing out on dozens of SP).
Map Voting/Rotation/Veto/Something other than random map selection. I’ve seen this suggested before, and I know MCC had map voting a long while ago, but I think it should return. The random selection (or at least that’s what it feels like) doesn’t provide me with the best variety of maps. There are certain maps I just don’t get to play because I just don’t find games on those maps - I’d like to at least have the option to vote or veto for a map, then I could at least have a say.
Join In-Progress for all Social Modes including Firefight. I’m pretty sure MCC still doesn’t have this, and it could definitely use it. Halo 5 has this feature and it’s so helpful to know that if someone drops because of AFK or some other DC, you at least have a chance at getting a teammate to replace them. This is especially important in modes like Infection, BTB, and certain 4v4 modes that don’t have regular competitive playlists (i.e. SWAT); honestly, it would just be beneficial in every social mode and it’s about time MCC got this feature.
Adding the Custom Games Browser to all other Halo MCC Titles. This is probably already planned but I thought I’d mention it anyway. Having the option to go between Reach, 3, and CE customs will be great, but if possible, it would be even better to have Halo 2, H2A, and Halo 4 as well (potentially even Halo 3: ODST for custom firefight modes).
Change the Halo 2 Anniversary Campaign Energy Sword and SMG Models to be the ones used in Halo 2 Anniversary’s Multiplayer. Although I am a fan of the current H2A campaign sword and SMG, they’re definitely not in-line with the originals and not as “Anniversary” as the rest of the Campaign while the H2A MP sword/SMG are and so I think this change would help make H2A’s campaign that much better of a celebration of Halo 2.
Add more to the pre-game lobbies and player profiles - i.e. the option to view players’ avatars and profiles more easily before games start, and adding the option to show off one of your multiplayer characters in your profile similar to how it was in Halo Reach and 4. As it stands now I often find a fully lobby rather quickly and don’t have much time to view other players’ profiles and even if I did, there isn’t as much to look at compared to Halo Reach or 4 for example where I could see other players’ customized characters. I like the Avatars, and I think they should stay as apart of the profile screen, but adding out multiplayer characters too, perhaps with a pose, would make the profiles so much less bland.
Add the option to change weapon/vehicle skins mid-game (in campaign and multiplayer) for all Halo titles. A lot of the skins are environmentally themed, and with how little time there is between finding a game and loading in, I often don’t have any time to change skins should I want to. Having this feature added in campaign and multiplayer would let me quickly change skins whenever I might want to, and would let me take better advantage of the variety of skins in MCC.
Let us see what map we’re playing on before we load into a match. This one ties in with points 10 and 14, but I didn’t mention it in either of those so I thought I’d make it a separate point.
Multiplayer and Misc. Other Feedback MCC Halo Game: Halo 3 and Halo 4 Feedback:
In previous seasons, several weapon skins within Halo 3 and Halo 4 were only unlockable by completing challenges whose tasks were to achieve a certain rank in a competitive multiplayer mode. These skins are: Avalanche for the H3 Sniper Rifle (Season 4), Blast for the H4 Battle Rifle (Season 4), and Blood for the H4 DMR (Season 4). It was previously stated by 343i that the intention was to wait until at least a season, or maybe two (if I’m wrong about this please correct me), had passedbefore putting these skins into The Exchange to be purchased with Season Points. Seeing as we’re now in Season 8 of MCC, we’ve gone through twice the number of seasons that 343i planned on waiting for before adding them back, and so my question is, are these skins in the line-up for Season 8’s Exchange? If so, great, I look forward to being able to purchase them (though I would happily attempt to earn them via the challenges they initially were tied to). If not, then I have to ask, why, and suggest that they be added into the line-up for this Season (or again, simply bring back the original challenges). We’ve seen virtually every PvE-related Seasonal Challenge unlock, from the Endure ODST Firefight skins, to various PvE-related weapon skins, etc. show up in the Exchange well within the one to two season window 343i spoke of when discussing Seasonal Challenge unlocks. So, if these skins aren’t in Season 8 - the last MCC Season - then why are PvE-challenge cosmetics being given a lower value compared to PvP-challenge cosmetics? Every seasonal cosmetic, PvE or PvP, has taken some time to complete, the most difficult being the Endure Challenge for ODST Firefight and the Competitive skins, but all of the Endure rewards are already purchaseable with Season Points, while the Competitive PvP skins are still locked and unobtainable for those who missed out the first time. I simply didn’t have the time or team to grind competitive during that Season, but would happily try my hand at those same challenges again or save up SP and buy them in The Exchange. So please, if the 3 skins I mentioned above aren’t slated to release in The Exchange this season then please either 1.) add them into the Exchange Rotation for this Season, or 2.) add back the challenges needed to earn them this season and make them permanent - it’s not right to assign a lower value to PvE-challenge rewards than PvP challenge rewards, and those skins have had more than enough time of being ‘exclusive’.
> 2533274850053813;4:
> Being able to use the custom skins in campaign now makes me very happy. Thank you.
I completely agree, this feature is one of my favorite to come from this Season, but I would really like to see it be added to Halo 4 as well (and all other titles on the MCC, should they one day receive weapon/vehicle cosmetics). I also would love the option to use skins in H3 ODST Firefight, as virtually all of the weapons in ODST have skins via Halo 3 (also would love to be able to use skins in Reach Firefight, should Reach ever get weapon/vehicle skins.
For customization, allow us to save a whole set of skins that go together so that we can switch to them at anytime. (So having 4 or 5 saved presets that we could switch to for each game for example)
It takes too much time switching left shoulder, right shoulder, head, chest, visor, utility, etc.
I spend a lot of time customizing my character so this would be a neat addition.
> This is the (revised) text of the letter I sent to DICE about bots in Battlefield. It’s a different company, but I’m sure the same concepts apply here:
>
> *Hello! My name is Christian Bethel. I am an -Yoink!- college student who lives in the USA who is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Application Development. I am a huge fan of your company, as you have created the seminal Battlefield series and two successful revivals of the Battlefront series. I have derived hundreds of hours of enjoyment from these games over the past nine years, from the gripping singleplayer stories to the explosive multiplayer. I am glad players can experience everything the Frostbite engine has to offer, along with true realism and authenticity in each game. Truly, Battlefield is one of the quintessential first-person shooter franchises on the market.**Unfortunately, for those playing the games on console, this gives rise to a crippling issue that has plagued the franchise for years.*I am referring to the lack of offline multiplayer support in every release since Battlefield 2142.There is neither Splitscreen nor Singleplayer Offline Bots to ensure the titles’ longevity. This is a problem for players on console, as many have voiced their displeasure at having to repeatedly pay an online subscription to play the multiplayer component of the various Battlefield titles. The issue is for me a taxing one- I come from a low income family and live off of disability checks issued by my government’s Social Security Administration. This check is used to pay for taxes and utilities, so it is often a rarity for me to afford even a three-month Xbox Live Gold subscription (I play on Xbox). Ironically, I am able to enjoy matches by myself or with a friend on the two latest Battlefront games, as they support both splitscreen and singleplayer offline bots. I am writing this email to request that the teams at DICE responsible for the inclusion of splitscreen and singleplayer offline bots in Battlefront and Battlefront II, as well as the team at the Search for Extraordinary Experiences Division tasked with developing the self-learning AI for Battlefield 1 come together and collaborate on an overhaul of past and present Battlefield releases so that they support Offline Splitscreen Play, Singleplayer Offline Bots, and Offline Bots in Splitscreen. I have several reasons why I am asking this of you, and as such I will take the time to explain them in detail in this email.
>
> Bots/Splitscreen Keep Games AliveIt is a common fact that the majority of gameplay modes that feature bots and splitscreen are often played offline. This is vital for players who grow an attachment to a game and wish to continue playing it even after its life cycle has ended. As with the Battlefield franchise, the early PC titles have multiplayer that can be played indefinitely despite the shutdown of their servers due to the inclusion of bots. Many players still have games such as Battlefield 1942 installed on their PCs due to bot support, and game franchises like Halo are highly successful due to its Splitscreen support. With full Offline Bot and Splitscreen support, the longevity and immortality of the title in question is ensured.
>
> Bots/Splitscreen Enable Play For Those Without InternetAs mentioned before, most bot/splitscreen-friendly gameplay modes are played offline, which is a much needed boon to those who are for some reason or another unable to utilize an Internet connection, though bot support is more ideal, as only one player is required to play with bots (in most cases). These reasons can vary, but two main reasons involve the strength of the Internet signal itself and the cost set forth by the respective Internet Service Provider. The latter reason is especially problematic among players who live in rural areas of the United States of America. With Full Offline Bot/Splitscreen Support, players from around the world can play a game at anytime, with or without a connection to the Internet. Players who play offline with bots also enjoy games free of lag, cheaters/hackers, and obnoxious players who barrage other players with profanities, racial/homophobic slurs, and maternal insults.
>
> BotsPositively Affect How A Player Learns How To PlayWith the addition of bot support, players will be able to effectively learn the basic and core mechanics of the game. In many cases, bots are present in a game’s tutorial (e.g. Battlefront II) to show a player how to play a game. It should also be mentioned that many games with bot support have a ‘Training’ mode for practicing against bot opponents in preparation for online play against real people. A significant portion of players cite this feature as a positive aspect of Offline Bot Support and affirm that Training modes which feature bots allow beginners to smoothly transition into playing the online multiplayer aspect of a game.
>
> Bots/Splitscreen Allow For Extensive CutomizationMany multiplayer-centric games permit customization, mainly alteration of built-in game modes. ‘Custom Game’ modes in which this is performed are played both online and offline, however offline custom games are typically played among in-person friends. Bots are no exception to this customization, albeit the only options available for customization are often the amount of bots present in a match and their difficulty. Players who speak in defense of offline bot support make a point to indicate this capability and offer praise for it, as built-in game types come off as restrictive.
>
> Bots/Splitscreen Are Fun!This reason on my list is easily the most critical of them all: playing with offline bots isfun. *It allows players to undergo a reprieve from the seemingly endless grind and fight for first place that is online multiplayer. Bots give players who struggle with the game’s mechanics to fully experience chaotic fast-paced multiplayer games in such a way that they can know what it is like to significantly contribute to a team or accumulate kills, dominate the enemy, and achieve victory. Various players report the online portion of games like Battlefield are ‘toxic’ due to the overabundance of cheaters/hackers and ‘tryhards’. With Full Offline Bot/Splitscreen support, this problem is eliminated almost immediately and more people become interested in buying the game.*With these reasons listed, I hope the proper parties will at least read this email and take what I – and scores of other players- have said into consideration for future Battlefield titles. As the aforementioned Battlefront and Battlefront II have bot support and utilize the Frostbite engine, I would assume the same resources could be applied to previous and future Battlefield installments. That being said, I eagerly await the announcement of the newest Battlefield title and anticipate it will garner much success. Thank you very much in advance for your time and consideration.
>
> 343 Industries, please consider devising some method of implementing singleplayer offline bots into each of the games in the Master Chief Collection to allow for singleplayer offline multiplayer. Thank you.

It still doesn’t work. Like DinoBoy said, the settings keep forcing themselves back to Squad Only for text chat functionality. Pressing tab with the chat box open does nothing at all.
I really like the new season, its what MCC needed in my opinion. The CGB for Halo 3 is finally here and its amazing! The new armor in the pass is just marvelous. Im really happy with all the new content, this season is giving the player more ways to enjoy Halo. All the content is free which is a massive bonus point for me. Im less concerned about leaving Halo 3 original in December, although it will still hurt a lot.
Thanks for season 8!
I will give more detailed feedback later about gameplay and customizable stuff.
Misc./Other Feedback (All Titles):
The “Montage starter kit” challenge is really -Yoink!- me off for some reason, like rage inducing.
It’s the exact same challenge as last season with a different name. Getting 1.000 headshots with a single weapon I rather not use is a boring slog.
Don’t really understand why it’s even restricted to Battle Rifles, why can’t you just use the Magnum or DMR which both are loadout weapons, or any other precision weapon for that matter.
The fact that you can’t play 2 games (CE and Reach) because of this is a bit lame and unfair to the people that prefer those.
I dislike the weekly challenge for completing 7 matches for the same reason, especially when they pair 2 ‘slow’ Halo games together.

Completely agree. There are precision weapons and headshot medals in other games that could easily be included as a part of this challenge. I don’t understand why it’s tied to one weapon only.

Competitive players complained to 343i that they worked hard for these skins and for once in a life time (back then) they listened and said they won’t bring these skins back. Comp players are really salty about this.

> Have they said yet why they silently did not release the Bishop helmet??
no official statement has been made, but two theories are currently front and center:
they pulled it as it’s unlock prerequisites were directly tied to ODST Flood/Elite Firefight and wanted to avoid another ONI-Hog situation - it was pulled thanks to the forum complaints that were attempting to cite real world events in order to have the season Cancelled (this makes less sense since if it were true, they likely would have also pulled Carrion Crow for obvious reasons relating to global events)there’s also no official statement on the restored “Condemned” and “Preserve” Anniversary DLC sets being affected by the Legacy toggle in Reach as well, though that one is likely due to a misunderstanding about what constitutes as Legacy Visuals, as well as what concessions should exist for specific content additions that would define why they are exempt from the toggles.
