Halo 3 also has serious framerate drops like at the start of the level The Storm when you hop out the warthog and look back from where you can. This is in a Series X at 120hz. It’s weird Halo 2 Anniversary is now smooth but Halo 3 and 4 have issues.

> This is the (revised) text of the letter I sent to DICE about bots in Battlefield. It’s a different company, but I’m sure the same concepts apply here:
> *Hello! My name is Christian Bethel. I am an -Yoink!- college student who lives in the USA who is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Application Development. I am a huge fan of your company, as you have created the seminal Battlefield series and two successful revivals of the Battlefront series. I have derived hundreds of hours of enjoyment from these games over the past nine years, from the gripping singleplayer stories to the explosive multiplayer. I am glad players can experience everything the Frostbite engine has to offer, along with true realism and authenticity in each game. Truly, Battlefield is one of the quintessential first-person shooter franchises on the market.**Unfortunately, for those playing the games on console, this gives rise to a crippling issue that has plagued the franchise for years.*I am referring to the lack of offline multiplayer support in every release since Battlefield 2142. There is neither Splitscreen nor Singleplayer Offline Bots to ensure the titles’ longevity. This is a problem for players on console, as many have voiced their displeasure at having to repeatedly pay an online subscription to play the multiplayer component of the various Battlefield titles. The issue is for me a taxing one- I come from a low income family and live off of disability checks issued by my government’s Social Security Administration. This check is used to pay for taxes and utilities, so it is often a rarity for me to afford even a three-month Xbox Live Gold subscription (I play on Xbox). Ironically, I am able to enjoy matches by myself or with a friend on the two latest Battlefront games, as they support both splitscreen and singleplayer offline bots. I am writing this email to request that the teams at DICE responsible for the inclusion of splitscreen and singleplayer offline bots in Battlefront and Battlefront II, as well as the team at the Search for Extraordinary Experiences Division tasked with developing the self-learning AI for Battlefield 1 come together and collaborate on an overhaul of past and present Battlefield releases so that they support Offline Splitscreen Play, Singleplayer Offline Bots, and Offline Bots in Splitscreen. I have several reasons why I am asking this of you, and as such I will take the time to explain them in detail in this email.Bots/Splitscreen Keep Games AliveIt is a common fact that the majority of gameplay modes that feature bots and splitscreen are often played offline. This is vital for players who grow an attachment to a game and wish to continue playing it even after its life cycle has ended. As with the Battlefield franchise, the early PC titles have multiplayer that can be played indefinitely despite the shutdown of their servers due to the inclusion of bots. Many players still have games such as Battlefield 1942 installed on their PCs due to bot support, and game franchises like Halo are highly successful due to its Splitscreen support. With full Offline Bot and Splitscreen support, the longevity and immortality of the title in question is ensured.Bots/Splitscreen Enable Play For Those Without InternetAs mentioned before, most bot/splitscreen-friendly gameplay modes are played offline, which is a much needed boon to those who are for some reason or another unable to utilize an Internet connection, though bot support is more ideal, as only one player is required to play with bots (in most cases). These reasons can vary, but two main reasons involve the strength of the Internet signal itself and the cost set forth by the respective Internet Service Provider. The latter reason is especially problematic among players who live in rural areas of the United States of America. With Full Offline Bot/Splitscreen Support, players from around the world can play a game at anytime, with or without a connection to the Internet. Players who play offline with bots also enjoy games free of lag, cheaters/hackers, and obnoxious players who barrage other players with profanities, racial/homophobic slurs, and maternal insults.Bots Positively Affect How A Player Learns How To PlayWith the addition of bot support, players will be able to effectively learn the basic and core mechanics of the game. In many cases, bots are present in a game’s tutorial (e.g. Battlefront II) to show a player how to play a game. It should also be mentioned that many games with bot support have a ‘Training’ mode for practicing against bot opponents in preparation for online play against real people. A significant portion of players cite this feature as a positive aspect of Offline Bot Support and affirm that Training modes which feature bots allow beginners to smoothly transition into playing the online multiplayer aspect of a game.Bots/Splitscreen Allow For Extensive CutomizationMany multiplayer-centric games permit customization, mainly alteration of built-in game modes. ‘Custom Game’ modes in which this is performed are played both online and offline, however offline custom games are typically played among in-person friends. Bots are no exception to this customization, albeit the only options available for customization are often the amount of bots present in a match and their difficulty. Players who speak in defense of offline bot support make a point to indicate this capability and offer praise for it, as built-in game types come off as restrictive.Bots/Splitscreen Are Fun!This reason on my list is easily the most critical of them all: playing with offline bots is fun. *It allows players to undergo a reprieve from the seemingly endless grind and fight for first place that is online multiplayer. Bots give players who struggle with the game’s mechanics to fully experience chaotic fast-paced multiplayer games in such a way that they can know what it is like to significantly contribute to a team or accumulate kills, dominate the enemy, and achieve victory. Various players report the online portion of games like Battlefield are ‘toxic’ due to the overabundance of cheaters/hackers and ‘tryhards’. With Full Offline Bot/Splitscreen support, this problem is eliminated almost immediately and more people become interested in buying the game.**With these reasons listed, I hope the proper parties will at least read this email and take what I – and scores of other players- have said into consideration for future Battlefield titles. As the aforementioned Battlefront and Battlefront II have bot support and utilize the Frostbite engine, I would assume the same resources could be applied to previous and future Battlefield installments. That being said, I eagerly await the announcement of the newest Battlefield title and anticipate it will garner much success. Thank you very much in advance for your time and consideration.*343 Industries, please consider devising some method of implementing singleplayer offline bots into each of the games in the Master Chief Collection to allow for singleplayer offline multiplayer. Thank you.
Sorry to let you know but your letter still contains many references to EA’s technologies and subsidiaries.

> - Was just playing H3 BTB Heavy match like 3 minutes ago, and experienced a problem I haven’t experienced for a few Seasons: the video suddenly freezes, audio briefly continues as normal, horrific buzzing/grinding sound blares over speakers, then Xbox One abruptly shuts completely down (console plays three descending beep-notes of shutdown, TV screen goes to blank blue, etc.)
I’ve had an issue similar to this but when closing and re-launching MCC after a game freeze; where MCC would attempt to launch then promptly freeze on launch with a loud noise before my Xbox One X suddenly shutting itself off after a moment
Multiplayer Feedback, Halo 3:
Loading any sort of Halo 3 content, including socials or comp, hard crashes my game. Period. I’ve tried just loading another map, tried various custom and social games, reinstalled both Halo 3’s campaign and multiplayer, validated my steam files for MCC twice, to no avail. One of the big draws of this season was the added content to Halo 3, which I can apparently no longer access due to some unknown bug crashing me whenever I try. Please get on this as soon as possible, it’s really annoying to have a third of the content you wanted rendered worthless. Additionally, it appears to be exclusive to just Halo 3. Reach, CE, 2, 2A and 4 all work flawlessly, but anytime I try to access Halo 3 content I get crashed. Also, I’ve gotten temp bans from said crashes, despite the fact that I haven’t even loaded into the match. I got wise and just removed Halo 3 from rotation while I play, but this really needs a patch. Like, badly.
General feature suggestions:
– Community-hosted dedicated servers with mod support
– Custom map / mod support in the Custom Game Browser
– Time after a match to leave the lobby before the next map loads in the Custom Game Browser
– Original loading screens and credits sequences
– Halo CE legacy Xbox maps available as map variants - they’re playable with custom map support but would be nice to have built in
– Separate installs for Anniversary mode, H2A multiplayer, Terminal videos, Spartan Ops, and Firefight
HUD:
– Crosshair size adjustment - At higher FoVs the crosshair size makes it hard to aim and doesn’t accurately display weapon spread.
– Original 4:3 HUD for Halo 3, ODST, and Reach - Currently the 16:9 HUD is squished to the center of the screen, instead of using the original HUD layout with properly scaled elements that make use of the vertical screen space.
– Halo CE classic HUD original text size - currently way too small compared to legacy and hard to read
– Chat position and size adjustment + visual style that matches the HUD of the game being played
Customization / new skins:
– Apply the new higher quality default skins to unused weapons/vehicles on the map for consistency and less pop-in
– Halo CE secondary armor color customization
– Anything for Halo 2 classic (visor colors would be nice)
– Halo 3 armor light color customization - including changing sets with fixed lighting such as Rhine, Infiltrator, and Ossoona to match other armor lights so they can all be changed consistently
– Halo 4 techsuit customization
Been getting random ping spikes or lag in games. I only have the servers under 100 ping selected. Also just got disconnected from live service and got kicked from a match. Not sure if its my fault because I was also watching twitch while it happened.

> Been getting random ping spikes or lag in games.
Been getting them in H4 btb tonight.
There’s a lot that still needs doing but currently the things I’m wanting most are:
- Splitscreen
- Meta game/Leaderboards bugs and cheaters addressed.
- Original higher polygon H3 hands back.
- Gloves and if possible Feet be their own armour section independent of Arms and Legs.
- H3 Arbiter armour added to H3 Elite customization.
- All H2A maps added to all H2A playlists/match sizes.
- ONI vehicle skins and Woodland weapon skins for all UNSC weapons and vehicles in all games.
- Heretic & Banished skins for all Covenant weapons and vehicle skins in all games.
- CE Elites playable in CE.
- CE secondary and tertiary colour.
- Heretic Leader and other campaign Elites playable in H2 multiplayer.
- NMPD Cop and other NPCs playable in ODST Firefight.
- Screenshot feature returned and able to make custom Map Thumbnails and Avatars.
- Add postgame podium and be able to use Avatars for it.
- Remove file limit.
- H3 Object Limit increased and all objects from campaign added to H3 Forge. Terrain and flood mass chunks and sections of water.
- The upcoming Flood Firefight update which will hopefully also add the missing weapons.
Text chat doesn’t work on PC. I go to settings and change text chat to team or all, but when I save the changes it remains on squad only. I’ve tried multiple times and it saves other settings, but chat remains squad only.

When you bring up Chat press TAB to cycle between Squad/Team/All.
- Really need a crosshair scaler.
Localisation is still broken:
I already put a ticket for this stuff out but ill let people know here too
This update broke Halo 3 ODST so hard my german localisation is no longer working across the entire game. All vocals including campaign and firefight are english only now.
The extras menu plays both german and english audio at the same time for halo 2A campaign cutscenes.
Halo 2A terminals are still english only despite having a localisation in the original release of MCC.
Feedback and suggestions:
I love the seasonal challenges. Nothing that forces anyone to be good at competitive. Casual players like me love to see this.
The Halo 2 lighting fixes are absolutely stunning. Im so happy that this game finally looks like the original. Thank you so much 343
Despite ODST not getting the flood or the elites this time around you still did a great job on the customisation. Although I wish for further vehicle customisation for both reach and ODST firefight such as more variety in vehicles for the players (ghost, choppers, revenants, wraiths and prowlers and even falcons and banshees). Or even let us change what vehicles the phantom drops (any covenant or if possible even manned human vehicles)
The new armour is a little over the top but i can accept them except the one that have a gray face on their helmet… I just dont like that one.
I dont like how the exchange is filled with new seasonal stuff again. The exchange is for old content if you flood it with new stuff itll take wayyy longer for it to rotate the stuff in that people actually want. Instead i would have taken the content from the exchange that is new and put it in the season unlocks for 1 point each. The fact that they are 3 or 4 points is insane since you cant get many points at all. Its simply too much.
Also please fulfill the promise with the exchange and actually add the old competitive challenge rewards into it. These skins are old enough to be made avaleable to everyone. Comp players had enough time to brag about it and they should get to keep these skins from the rest of us just because they cry about how “we didnt deserve it”
that’s about it.
- Please add support for H2V custom maps, similar to CE supporting custom edition maps - Please improve support for custom edition maps by adding a folder for those (path editable within the settings), since as of now you have to rename and replace actual game files for playing on custom maps.
Add above mentioned folder to file share, so that not everyone in the lobby has to have the maps played on downloaded, as the maps are transferred via fileshare
The latest update added a new setting to Halo CE custom games called “Classic Rules”, which is a yes/no toggle setting. But, the description does not say anything. Does anybody know what this setting does?
cross campaign playlist challenge isn’t completing. I’ve completed two cross campaign playlists since the update, still has not completed. Massive waste of time

> Heres a list with armors/skins that currently arent in MCC, please consider bringing those in first before adding completely new content that doesnt really fit the classic halo art style

> Also Halo 3 is drowning in content, as 5 seasons now are almost completely H3 content only. Give the other games some love for christs sake, H2 has no skins and almost no armors, CE has not much skins/armors. Show those games some love, especially them H2 elites.
I’m so happy someone brought this back, I was looking all over for it! I adore this resource so much, it’s really something I hope 343 considers, at the very least as Exchange content after Season 10 and Infinite is released.
- For Halo: Reach is there any chance the intense bloom and motion blur can be restored to have the game look like its original release as the other titles in mcc now look like their original releases as well as the art preservation.
Really don’t understand why headshots in CE don’t count toward the headshot challenge. In reach and ODST I get not wanting to include firefight but if it’s too easy to get headshots in CE why is swat allowed in the other games 2-4?

The headshots need to be done with a BR for the challenge. Theres no BR in CE.
- MCC Game: odst custom firefight - Feedback: Sometimes the AI get lost/stuck on the map since the update - Additional Info: I’ll submit a ticket for this when i collected more details about this issue. If anyone else noticed it as well pls quote this post and describe what you encountered

The headshot challenge is part of a BR reward skin so that’s probly why.
