MCC Season 8 Feedback

Hello Team,

Halo CE- Bug- Deadzones and Look Acceleration no longer work.

I do not understand why 343 has a habit of taking something that works somewhat well (can’t say great because 343 is not a great company)

Season 8 update was fine.

Then the update yesterday broke the control mechanisms for aiming in the game.

Thanks again for going 1 step forward and 3 steps back! Seems to be 343’s M.O.

Hey on a positive note: thanks for more skins. Last time I checked the mechanisms and technical details of a game don’t matter!

Please MORE AND MORE SKINS to make us happy LOL.

Your a bunch of clowns and straight amateur when it comes to game coding.

THUMBS UP!

Weekly Challenges, in general, are very lackluster for the rewards they offer. In around the amount of time it would take to get enough season points through challenges to unlock every tier in a single season, the next season will already be out. 12 season points per week + 27 maximum from Seasonal Challenges is not enough to keep up with the amount of seasonal content being added, especially when there are currently 700 total reward tiers across each season. This doesn’t even account for the cost of items featured in The Exchange, where a mere cosmetic can cost 3-5 season points. That’s practically 25-50% of an entire week’s worth of season points earned from weekly challenges!

Everything in The Exchange is too expensive. Buying everything currently available from The Exchange can cost up to 9 season points. Yes, we can just opt to not buy anything from The Exchange, but then what’s the point of it? Items are too expensive to buy, and players have to decide between saving their points for seasonal reward tiers or buying something from the shop. I’m thinking that items in the Weekly Exchange need to have their cost reduced by at least 60% unless we start earning more season points per week.

Make some of the Weekly Challenges that offer season points repeatable. For example, if you already completed “Cuddle Up”, then you could complete it again in the same week up to 4 more times for a total of 5 season points. This is probably the easiest way to help players catch up with the game’s seasonal content while also making it simpler for the devs to just tweak the number of completions for each challenge. It would also be nice to limit this to challenges that can be completed more easily than others. (I would rather have to get 50 Style medals than win more than 2 competitive matchmade games.)

Peoples vs Peoples and VS CPU should offer season points. As it stands, less than half of the Weekly Challenges in PvE and PvP offer season points. If players were rewarded for going above and completing 10 weekly challenges in each category, they should be rewarded in season points for it. This would make other “0 season point” challenges more relevant, similarly to how 3 of the Seasonal Challenges offer a cosmetic after completing the 2 prerequisite challenges.

All Seasonal Challenges should offer season points, including the ones that reward cosmetics. I say this because all that work that goes into completing 2 of the Seasonal Challenges for just one cosmetic that I might not even use is extremely unrewarding. Sure, we get 7 season points from the prerequisite challenges, but that still doesn’t feel like a lot. Maybe give us an extra 3 season points for these cosmetics challenges.

Sweat Equity* and Friendly Fire should be altered to reward match performance. Requiring players to WIN matches every week for season points can be cumbersome with the lack of SBMM in the game. I’ve had times where it takes me 10+ competitive matches to actually complete Sweat Equity because I get paired with teammates who don’t complete the objective and can’t even kill other players. Completing these challenges is basically like relying on RNG to pick your teammates and opponents-- or rather a full 6-stack, which is extremely unfair for a challenge. I’d rather be rewarded for my contribution to the team than by victories, since victories require a team effort. I’d even be happy with at least making those two challenges non-static, so they may or may not have a chance to show up every week.

* Alternatively: Remove Sweat Equity from Weekly PvP challenges. Competitive games are insufferable with the number of issues the mode has, ranging from AFK players to long matchmaking queues and rage-quitters. Also, the extended “quit” timer that applies to people who didn’t make it past the initial loading screen and got disconnected from the match because the game— for some reason— has frequent connection issues. I don’t think I need to mention that competitive is also the most toxic game mode in PvP. For a mode that has so many experimental flaws, it seems unsuitable for a Weekly PvP challenge.

I’d like to add that I’m glad 343 addressed one of my previous requests (removing/altering Firefight Fodder) and I hope they do the same for the rest of these as well!

You should probably update your Firefight Fodder suggestion since it’s no longer in the game. Also, I’d rather not have this game in the same situation as PUBG and other games that have gear or currency linked to our Steam inventories.

I just want to say that I’m very happy with how MCC has turned out and the efforts made to get nitty gritty with fixes and updates. Adding back the classic HUD in Halo CE made me more excited than I’d like to admit. Here are some minor issues that persist:

Halo Combat Evolved
The radial blur for scope zooms has broken and no longer shows. This seems to be a new issue as I remember it working properly in prior seasons. Here are screenshots that show the scope effect as it appears in the original game, followed by how it currently appears in MCC: zoom blur - Album on Imgur

In the classic HUD, the crosshairs for the sniper rifle and Warthog driver are opaque and don’t have the proper transparency effect that all other crosshairs have: opaque crosshairs - Album on Imgur

The compass on the assault rifle will bug out briefly when passing north. Here’s a video showing it in the original game, followed by how it appears in MCC: broken compass

Halo 2 Classic
Water surfaces break when viewed at higher FOVs. Here you can see the water disappearing on the edge while using 105 FOV: high fov broken water - Album on Imgur

Halo Reach
Using the visor zoom with the centered crosshair option causes the view to jump upward, this was fixed for the other games but persists in Reach: broken zoom

Misc/Other Feedback
Under the controls settings, set the “Gamepad” category above “Gamepad Controls”, and likewise “Mouse” above “Mouse & Keyboard Controls” as sensitivity and deadzone settings are more likely to be repeatedly tweaked. It’ll be a huge QOL benefit for making changes mid-match.

I didn’t actually know that, just figured it wasn’t in the current cycle. Thanks for letting me know!
That’s fair. I’d like it because I have more points than I need and would love to share with my friends, but I don’t think that’s a popular opinion.

I also think the Roadkill Rampage and Rock and Coil Hit Back should have their game specific requirements removed, and be applicable to all games, potentially even without a matchmaking requirement. Splatter and Environmentalist medals in Halo 2: Anniversary’s matchmaking aren’t very accessible, and, unlike most Halo 2: Anniversary achievements, these two don’t mimic or parallel Halo 2 Vista achievements.

Please, for the love of god make these achievements obtainable in other games, 343i! Getting any H2A games is nearly impossible, not to mention getting games on the maps you need, not to mention having good enough RNG to actually be able to execute a splatter or environmental kill in any given games. Not sure how anyone is supposed to finish these achievements when simply getting an H2A match is an impossible task on its own.

I really need the Samurai and EOD armour from Halo Online. PLEASE.

P.S. Please return the original hand models. Adding Reach’s hands/undersuit Spartan would be nice too. And please make Hands - and if possible Feet too - their own armour sections. I really want Mark VI hand armour while using my Mirage arms.

Is there a problem with that? I only used EA as a frame of reference for their offline bot support in Battlefield.

It literally only discusses Frostbite and Battlefront in the context of adding bots to the most recent Battlefield. There is no mention of MCC or 343 industries (and their subsidiaries), alongside no acknowledgement of the multiple iterations of the Blam engine operating under the unified UE4 menu’s (which will most likely require a case by case update to netcode and other necessary systems, on top of it being map by map with new accommodations for Forge in the later games cases )

if you had a revised letter, its possible you may have accidentally posted the original letter under the assumption that it was the revised letter, but this one is most definitely not revised.

(sigh) I very clearly stated in the post that the company was different, but the same core concepts and points I make in the letter still apply to 343 and the absence of offline bots in the Master Chief Collection. It is an exhortation for 343 to enable full offline bot support for the Master Chief Collection. I have seen several mods which were able to, in varying capacities, successfully implement bots into, at the very least, Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 3, and Halo Reach; thus it is evident to me it is not outside the realm of possibility to modify the Blam! engine to accommodate for offline bot support.

You stated it was a revised letter, implying that said revisions were made to change the letters context from Battlefield to Halo; and yet all you changed was the start and the end like a plagiarist would, while leaving the entire body of the work unaltered. If the revisions were purely in regards to the discussion of Battlefield (i/e punctuation and grammer fixes), then once again the letter is not relevant to Halo and thusly shouldn’t have been posted 8 times in a row; just because you feel the concepts apply to Halo does not mean your letter reflects that.

How does my letter not apply to Halo? Halo and Battlefield are both first-person shooters, are they not? They both rely on online multiplayer, do they not? A game with online multiplayer needs offline bots to be preserved, does it not?

Them sharing a genre and having online is about the only relevant similarities they have.

Your letter is literally addressing EA and Dice and only discusses Frostbite and Battlefront in the context of adding bots to the most recent Battlefield. These are completely different studios and publishers from 343 and Microsoft, who made an entirely different FPS game from Halo that runs on a completely different engine from Blam. As I already said; just because you feel the concepts apply to Halo, does not mean your letter reflects that. Claiming its revised to apply to Halo when all the revisions did was clean up the same talking points discussing an unrelated game is not revising it for Halo.

That said, I don’t disagree with the point being made, even if I think it’s unfeasible with the current unfinished workload the devs are getting through.
