I need help!
This morning I tried playing halo mcc on pc, however, the xbox game pass pc app needed an update first… once i updated, Halo mcc would not start and would bring me to the microsoft store page for “gaming services” which was already installed.
I looked up and saw this was an issue that happened to people before so I tried a solution which said to repair and reset the halo mcc app in the app settings under advanced settings. However, after I did that the game disappeared from xbox game pass app and when i try to access it through my file explorer, it says " location not accessible…" and “device not ready”.
I tried deleting it like i would any other file but nothing happens. Under properties of the halo mcc folder, it says 0gb when it should be almost 200gb. when i look at properties of my ssd, it still shows up that the space is taken up, as if mcc was still there.
did a bug with xbox game pass pc break my pc? Will i ever get this ssd space back? or will i need to clean install. please mind me, i dont know too much about computers as i have only had a pc for about 6 months now.
somehow fixed it even though i wasnt sure what it was. I tried:
- cmd code to delete folder (didnt even show up)
- Uninstalling all xbox games and xbox app
- Searching halo in the windows search bar, halo mcc still popped up as an app, an pressing uninstall (this didnt move, maybe it did nothing)
- Under properties on my SSD, perform disk cleanup
it ended up working. the space is back and the folder went away… now to install the whole thing…
this was really weird, i dont know what happened but im so glad to fix it. Really upsetting how buggy and weird xbox pc app and even ea desktop is… steam is a better launcher
this might not have happened to anyone else, but in the case it does i hope this might help.
Hey I kind of have a similar issue. A couple days ago I tried to update MCC to play with friends, but everytime I tried to update it, it would give me an error. After going through all troubleshooting hoops I decided to try and reinstall it. I then learned that no matter what I did I couldn’t uninstall the game. I ended up deleting it in file manager, which lead to it still showing as installed in anything windows related and the deleted space still staying used. I tried to perform a disk cleanup like you said and it did nothing. This issue is kind of related but maybe someone else has a fix.
