How come me and my friend can’t play the master chief collection with each other? It just says failed to connect to host every time we try no matter which one of us is being invited. Is there going to be a fix for this at all or is this just going to be a problem forever?
What game are you playing? CoOp campaign or MP?
Same network or different places?
Can you get into a lobby together?
Reset both xboxes and try again?
There are some issues with H2 campaign and co-op. Overall MCC works. Some MP has issues as well. Swap around whos hosting.

You may be having some network issues. Reset all Xbox’s and try again if not…

If your playing on the same Xbox make sure you create another account for your friend. When the new Xbox Dashboard came out last year in October you can’t have someone sign in as a guest on the MCC. The 343 team game is aware of the issue and it will be fixed when the MCC 2.0 version releases.
Just the campaigns themselves and it doesn’t matter what one we try to do or who hosts because neither of us can join it just says failed to join, playing on separate Xbox ones and we have tried resetting both Xbox’s and routers and nothing has changed. Our NAT types are open and we both have wired connections, we can’t even be in the same lobby we haven’t even been able to even attempt to start a game together.

What is the ISP modem model# and Brand?
Same for router? Model# and Brand?
Are your consoles wired or wireless connected to the main host router? Online gaming, it’s preferred and recommended to use LAN cable connections instead of wireless.
Which Halo game are you trying to CoOp in? H2? We have seen issues in this game.
H1, H3, ODST and H4 I haven’t seen any issues.
Do this, set up the same game, map and difficulty level on both consoles. Set for Solo mode this time. Both of you enter into the solo campaign. Soon as the game starts. Exit the game. Then try to join up in the lobby. Then launch the same game and configuration in CoOp.
Do you have a different game that you and your friend and test to see if you can join up in that game?
I’m guessing you don’t plan on fixing this you just want to say it’s other factors other than fixing the game, it’s been 4 months and it’s still not fixed

That’s because the fix isn’t publically available yet. They haven’t updated the mcc proper at all, it’s all the insiders testing it to make sure it works before its public.
And there may not be an issue in the game, rather maybe an ISP issue or a router configuration issue. I’ve been playing with friends for a while now. Haven’t seen many issues with MCC accept for H2. Sometimes the H2 CoOp game doesn’t start correctly with two people. I found that having both players start the same map and game configuration in single mode. Start the game in single mode. After the game starts, quit the game. Re-join in coop in the lobby then who ever is the host, start the game again in coop. This helped fix H2 CoOp campaign sometimes when the game wouldn’t start right.
All other games CoOp has been working well for me and friends I play with.
