Why is this not being fixed? My wife and I play this game often on weekends. Always either big team or social slayer. Up until the update a few weeks ago, there were no issues. Now after the update, it repeatedly kicks you out of match searching within 10-15 seconds every time you try if you have a guest (splitscreen). Then when I sign her account out, it finds matches just fine, so it’s definitely a split screen issue. I see multiple other people with this issue as well and am just curious why a company like 343 is taking so long to correct this?? Even though this is the “official” Halo site, do they not read support forums? Any feedback from a staff member, even just a “we’re working on it”, would be appreciated.
I hear ya, i’m going on 8 days with this issue, multiple techs, reset my xbox and re installed 8 times. Bout to switch to ps4…but my kids love playing halo with me. Just super annoyed at this point

Having same issue. I play with my nephew and we haven’t been able to have a split screen match for weeks. This is beyond ridiculous and just the reason why everyone should leave this crap and find a game on PS4 to start playing. Going to cancel my Live membership today.
This is a confirmed workaround:
If you have the other players sign in as separate Xbox live accounts (instead of guests) it works fine. Note it doesn’t have to be a paid xbox live account.
Check the playlists as well. You can’t do ranked with guests. Social playlists utilize different engines, so depending how the parameters work, one may be broken for guests on a certain engine. My first guess would be guest support for Halo CE seeing as it didn’t have Live functionality in the first place.Go to customs, sign in a guest, and try loading a game into each Halo engine. If 1 fails, more than likely playlists that feature that engine won’t work as well as it may preload the engine data while searching.Not sure how they configure stuff on this game but id start there. If the games load then it’s a prolly in the Lobby UI screwing it up
Mine still wont let me play online with a guest no matter what i try , ive tried everything . Is there a way around it ?
So this is how you play multiplayer.
- Press the xbox button on your control.
- Scroll all the way left and click “Add New”. DO NOT CLICK ADD GUEST.
- In order to play any multiplayer matchmaking on MCC all players must have a Microsoft account (This does NOT mean that everyone needs Xbox gold account).
- If your guest does not have a Microsoft account, simply create one (it’s completely free).
- Sign in with this newly created account.
- When you start a matchmaking game with this newly created account you’re still going to have that stupid “family settings” message pop up. Ignore it, your Xbox live matchmaking game will work.
Yes this is really stupid of Microsoft to do…it just makes things complicated, but it is the only way around it…

Had my buddy drive 1.5 hours to my place to play some Halo after like a half year… Had the same problem, couldn’t get a game, too late now, major bummer.
MCC continues to disappoint!! I just loaded up Reach and that game is still solid… miss the days of Bungie with Microsoft money behind it.
Just a heads up to 343i that this is still a problem.
For everyone who needs a work around, just create accounts for everyone to play. Since you share gold across the console, you only need one gold account to play and it’s free to create as many other accounts as you want.
