MCC Matchmaking (Reach)

What the actual -Yoink-? Matchmaking has been dropping a lot of players right before the match loads. So next time you players assume someone quit before that match starts, nah, they got dropped, and they’re more pissed off at that than you are at them leaving. I got dropped 4 -Yoinking!- times in a row just trying to do Invasion matchmaking last night. The game gets found, I connect to the host, then the loading screen appears, but after loading a bit, it freezes. I could even press J to open up the chat and talk to people while they were playing the match. They were wondering why I quit, I said “I DIDN’T! IF I QUIT I WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO TALK TO YOU RIGHT NOW!” Then the screen goes black and I’m back at the competitive playlist menu.

FYI I got relays turned off.

GET US DEDICATED SERVERS. Or at least tell me how to port forward for MCC PC Reach. Port Forwarding is so -Yoinking!- annoying because each Modem/Router has different menus to navigate. I googled some basic instructions, but they don’t line up with how my Router’s interface works. I got high speed cable internet, all my other games work fine online. Reach also can work fine, for a few matches in a row. When I actually get in a match it’s fine. Firefight seems to be more stable than Invasion; I get dropped less so in Firefight matchmaking than Invasion. It’s random with Reach matchmaking, I dunno if I’ll get dropped, but I feel bad for my team because they have no way of filling that empty player slot.

You actually got an invasion game?. Wow. That was my favourite game type from reach. But it pretty much abandoned on mcc.
Why its in ranked hell only knows.

Well I could have had twice as many Invasion games, BUT IT KEEPS DROPPING PLAYERS! That’s the reason why when the match starts, you’re lacking a 6th player. It’s not because they quit it’s because the -Yoinking!- matchmaking system dropped them!

Now I understand this is a console port and all the complications from that, but 343 said they’d try to get custom games browser/dedicated servers whatever. I really hope they succeed in that. That would do it basically, I’d think - no more automated console-like matchmaking, meaning no more dropped players, only players who actually quit, and even then, they can be replaced mid-game.

The reason I bring up port-forwarding is maybe it’ll fix this problem, but, I kinda doubt it. I think it’s on their end, not mine. I also live in Canada. No servers in Canada, North Central US is the best connection but I sometimes end up getting West Europe lol.

But if anyone knows how to port-forward for Reach PC (Steam version) let me know. I’ll take anything at this point. The gameplay is fun once you actually get a game. Thank you 343 for even bringing this to PC, and your latest patch seems good - I think it actually fixed some audio issues for me, I can actually play the campaign now without this absurdly bad loud static sound. Sometimes it crops up in certain cutscenes but it’s not nearly as bad as before where it was unplayable.

Also, can’t wait for Halo 3. -Yoink!- that was the best; playable Elites in all gamemodes. Which has me thinking - I know it’s possible in Reach to play as an Elite in all gamemodes, allowing the game to actually use the preferred species option. We just don’t have a playlist which has it enabled.
