For some reason MCC just uninstalled and now it’s downloading the entire game again by itself. Is anyone else having this problem? This only happened after Halo 3 came out and I saw that was installing and this happened when it got halfway through installing Halo 3.

Happened to me last week. This game was coded by children.
Exact same issue. Once the game finished installing via the xbox app it just dosn’t launch. Trying to Launch Halo MCC via start menu just redirects me to MS store to install the ‘Gaming servies’ I already have installed.
At this point I’ve wasted like 5 hours in total for a download that could have been done with a pre-load. Now getting -Yoink!- by the game not starting up because it says I don’t have the game services installed when I clearly do.
Heck even tried removing the service using Power shell and reinstalling. Just ain’t having it, Hope I’m not the only person with this issue because this whole process is making me feel like a retard.

A day before the update MCC on Xbox just wouldn’t start like, I tried but the game crashed 8 times in a row and I couldn’t help but laugh.

It has gotten a lot better since 2014.

At least I know I’m not the only one, going to lay low for now. Botched releases happen but holy crap its one thing after another.

If you are gonna reduce the difference between the launch state of the game, and the current state to that, then you’ll never be satisfied. Do I believe that it still has a lot of work that needs to be done? Of course, plenty. But it’s not an unplayable piece of trash. There’s nothing wrong with complaining, on its own. But when you are complaining just for the sake of complaining, without even bringing up a specific reason, that is where I take issue. Besides, I doubt the version of the game that uninstalled itself is the steam version. It’s probably the Microsoft store version, which everyone knows there’s a lot of problems with the Microsoft store on windows 10.

It was actually the steam version sadly, but this probably more of a Valve issue then say 343.

Same here, can´t launch Gears 5 either btw.

I didn’t try Gears 5 I just uninstalled it thinking I didn’t have enough storage on the drive for Halo 3 but I’m guessing I would have had a similar issue if I tried the new Gears update. MCC was working before I updated all my games on the xbox app too and that were just over the weekend. Getting ready for Halo 3.
Any word on a possible fix coming in for Xbox app users?
It’s happened to me with different games on Xbox before, where it starts as an update, but then just decides to uninstall and redownload the whole game.
Currently stuck trying to redownload the whole of MCC looking at around 80GB using my phone as a tether. This is rough :c
Yeah, this has happened to me twice. Now however it doesn’t even let me download the game on the Windows Store (I’m downloading it from there because I have it from Game Pass). It tells me that it can’t install add-ons before the base game, even if i get rid of all but one of them (for example, cancelling the broken download of Halo 3). If i get rid of the final add-on (for example, Halo: CE), then it deletes the whole download altogether so I’m stuck in a loop of not being able to download it.
MS Store/Game Pass version
So it seems to have finally worked for me, I can play Reach through 3 with no issues, granted the “missing external drive” bug is back but I know how to fix that.
(search Storage Settings, under more storage settings click Change where apps are saved, change games to C: apply, then go back to what drive you had before and apply)
343 You really need to talk to MS about fixing their Windows store, love the games and glad to see them finally on PC, but it appears that all these bugs do is give you a bad name when you don’t have control over the errors themselves.
I know this is more of a windows store/xbox issue but just a heads up to any steam users who happen to get this, the game is NOT uninstalled, it’s just that steam forgot where it downloaded the game. To fix this you just need to right click, go to properties, local files and change the install location to the place it’s already installed. I have no idea how this happens but it happens a lot more than it should.

I solved it using the powershell lines in this answer https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/microsoft-store-package-dependency-installer/2a4ea030-ee76-4a85-8b09-67e4948ec562?fbclid=IwAR1s04gPifb9Pd31JEK8cyThN_IyxI81c-Pmyo9lMzPhfAUgss7Kd--58-0
Halo MCC on pc keep uninstalled itself. i have it download on my (D) drive . i was able to play but after redownloading the full 116GB witch took all night . now it doing it again, Microsoft fix ur game/App
