MCC Is Dying - Slow Matchmaking -

In fact on the Asian server
Here MCC & Infinite search for any even match for a long time

My personal record, the longest search time was 45 minutes in MCC
Infinite’s longest search time is 60 minutes.

Compared to Apex Legends on Steam, my search time averaged every 5 minutes.

Takes forever for me to find ranked matches, but I find social matches pretty quickly (aside from BTB) , almost always within a few minutes. Often within a minute depending on what games/modes I have enabled.

As a Brit during daytime hours on the weekend it can be quite hard to find a match, 4v4s are your best bet. I try to play later in the day when the muricans hop online lol.

MCC is still a blast but I only have so many hours in a week to play games! And there’s many games I’ve started and haven’t completed and would like to.

Qued for seven hours yesterday to get into a H2A game and I never did on PC.

Sadly, MCC is dead and I love this game.

@Captain_Cromy MCC as a whole is far from dead. Maybe the playlist you were searching is extremely low on numbers, but other ones are plenty healthy. With very restrictive settings, I still find games consistently.

According to steam’s numbers tracking Halo MCC is now less than 5,000 a day at just over 4,900 per 24 hours.

That seems pretty dead especially when Starcraft 2 still gets 60,000 a day and it is almost 12 years old.

thats hardly dead.
then again, your perspective on what’s a dead game or not is significantly changed when you’ve played a game that’s numbers have plummeted into the low 100’s after over 5 years of developer radio silence.

MCC just suffers from being MCC, where every game under it’s hood is fighting each other for the scant few people who could look past all the inherent failings of the collection’s design. people will likely come back the moment an update drops as they always do.

Good perspective and you may be right. AS Infinite continues to crash and burn more will come back as I have. Cheers!

Majority of pc gamers use Windows store / Gamepass for Xbox games.
Steam numbers mean nothing. <

Not saying you’re wrong (you are but for arguments sake) but where are you coming up with this information except for “My friends and I use the Windows store” or “because I said so”?

A friend of mine was playing social this weekend and noticed friendly fire was disabled. Has anyone else noticed this in mcc social as well?

I’m more suprised that 343 did an update behind the scenes but made no mention of this change recently. It just seems to me that they are slow walking this game now. We were promised some type of road map in 2022 back last fall but 343 has been tight lipped about any future updates since infinite’s release. It’s almost like 343 wants MCC to fail so people move over to infinite and spend money on that game.

Unless it’s revisiting campaign I’m not touching MCC. the rewards aren’t worth the grind and the community is quite toxic. Infinite just feels right. cleaner community, players just want to have fun (the way Halo should be).

Most likely to FINALLY stop all the trolls in BTB from following their teammates around making sure they have no shields but never killing them so they can’t get booted.

Look at 343 devs actually doing something for once xD

i have no problems finding games in mcc and i am from europe . since the game matches me anyway most of the time to us servers and the search is unnesesary lenghtend i play exclusive us servers ( around 70 - 90 ping though still good enough for even competetive to be honest barely any bloodshots ). this shortens the search time signifcantly. Social is easy and fast to find , ranked sometimes takes a while. there is also a weired thing were the matchmaking seems to be bugged and taking ages , i usually do a restart of game or console/pc and then its fast again. alone in steam are ususally 2000 to 5000 players always on , there comes in addition gamepass pc , ms store , xbox. There should be enough players to healthiliy play evrything. even when searching VERY specific things you should at least find players even when its taking a moment. mcc appears still on the Xbox strore site of most played games. of course updates always boosts the population for a good time and there are returning players because of infinites content lack. i am pretty sure at one point they are going to make mcc free anyway and put micros in to warrant further content for this games , this should in theory give a further population boost.

I’d regard it as a testament to the games that have managed to survive 343i touching them. Despite everything the developers have done to these actual Halo games be it inadvertently or as a means to ensure that their own separate projects would sell, the titles on MCC are still solid enough for people to come back. Tends to happen when anyone other than 343i actually makes a video game :+1:

Too true. Halo Infinite basically hurt the IP and all the games populations. Basically feels like a sinking ship and not able to play MCC due to population issues and had to play other non-Halo games because 343i have poorly managed the IP. Would love to play MCC but at the moment the way the game is being handled is making it very difficult to be able to play anything online.

Halo is the reason why I have an Xbox and if it wasn’t for my backlog of games I’d consider moving my main games to Steam Deck or even PS because I’m sick of the way 343i have been handling the IP. I’m at a point where I believe Halo is not a system seller anymore because of how poorly 343i have handled Halo for the last decade and at the moment I’m sick of paying for Xbox Live for such a poor service where I can’t even play the games I want to play online.

Ronnie42,

With respect I completely disagree. Halo Infinite campaign was absolutely fantastic. Halo 4 campaign was absolutely fantastic. Halo 5 multiplayer was absolutely fantastic.

The problem with Infinite is the multiplayer has too many problems still months post-launch! If it didn’t I’d be playing it every night still.

The lack of content and lag, disconnections, dsync is why the majority of people are complaining.

Have given up this morning. 5-10 min in BTB lobby… nothing.

That’s with all servers and crossplay & cross input selected

The game’s dead right now

It’s fine to disagree but my opinion is not going to change just because you disagree.
I still see Halo 5 having the worst campaign/multiplayer/forge in the entire series and I’m max rank so I believe my opinion is as valid as anyone else’s.

As for Halo 4 the multiplayer was meh but sort of grow on me but the campaign itself was pretty bad since they made things like vehicles feel like paper mache and the Prometheans got so repetitive fast. Only thing I cared about was probably the Didact and the music and maybe forge and Dominion game-type due to the turrets. Plus hated what they did with Cortana since it felt like bad fan-fiction.

Lack of content for Infinite isn’t just the issue. The issue is that 343i lied about how much content was going to be there. As for the PVP side it’s ok but it’s not the best thing I’ve ever played and it’s not the worst thing I have ever played. Also you’re not the majority of people so don’t speak for everyone. :thinking. They can have tons of stuff in store but with no way to actually earn them it’s what killed it for me.

But the last straw for me is Infinite being used to split the player base then have both MCC and Infinite drop severely in population…making it impossible to play a ‘fun’ Halo online without predatory systems in place.

LOL no, 4 and 5 were hot garbage.

Infinite is a non-starter for me because it’s a crappy ubisoft style OW, and thus a waste of my time.

Try not playing in the morning and do evenings instead.
