MCC going forward

So. Infinite’s beta is out now, officially marking the “end” of the mcc era that has been lasting for the past three years. It’s been pretty amazing to see how far this game has come, as it was my first halo I actually played until the end, as in halo 5 I came in pretty late.
Although, I’m not moving on to Infinite. At least not yet. I’m waiting to get a series x before I get my hands on infinite. Which might be some time.
Now, we know, like what happened with halo 5, mcc is not COMPLETELY done. They will finish the rest of the games in the custom game browser, and more that we might not be expecting.
As a result, I think I will say some things I would like to see come to the master chief collection going forward (without overworking 343i).

Skins to the rest of MCC. Now, not new skins (Although that would be amazing). I mean portimg the skins from the other games and putting them onto the rest. For example Halo 4 skins (hehehe 4skins) in Halo 3. This would also make it so that Reach, 2, and ODST will finally have skin support.

Armor Effects to the other games. Pretty self explanatory. Adding them to Halo 4 was a great addition, and to the other games would be appreciated. I love having the Legendary effect in halo 3, but Eternal would be chefs kiss
Speaking of that,

Make the flaming helmet effect in halo 3 not be a chest piece, but an armor effect. Again, self explanatory. I hate how I had to get rid of my Legendary to use another chest piece.

Now, how these armor effects would be unlocked, I’m not sure. Since there is no “season 9 battle pass” Maybe with a challenge (preferably not limited time) that would take some hard earned work?

Speaking of not limited time.

Unlock every challenge from previous seasons that some people missed out on. Look, I’m busy during the school year. I’m in a lot of advanced classes and it takes a lot of time, dedication, and studying. With that in mind, I have less time to play video games, and really only get Friday night and Saturday (if I don’t have a test coming up that week) to play. And I do other things as well. So maybe unlock those for us who didn’t have a chance?

PLEASE bring back earning season tokens upon level ups. Weekly challenges is fine, but leveling up feels unrewardning in this game. Especially since there’s not even a number indicating how high you are,and is simply just a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum symbol next to your name.

Have a view gamercard option in game. A mute button is important, and a report button is a good start, but sometimes a person’s gamercard is what tells you that they are a hacker by having a modded gamertag and things of that such.

A better betrayal system if not removing the system altogether. Why not make it so the game detects when you kill in self defense? I’m tired of being killed by some little brat who got PO’d I took his/her powerweapon. Infinite doesn’t have betrayal at all, why not do the same here?

That’s all I can think of for now, if I think of more as the day goes on, I’ll make sure to update the list!

what I’d prefer to see is:

  • they finish the mod tools and CGB
  • release the 6 unreleased H:O armor sets for Halo 3 (Blaster, Extractor, Knight, Defender, Operator, Spectrum)
  • work on the remaining Halo Online maps intended for Halo 3 (Reactor & Skybridge first, and if time permits, Diamondback & Powerhouse as well)
  • port the H:O DMR to Halo 3’s forge and nerf the Automag
  • port the H:O Ammo Crates and ODST Gauss Turret to Halo 3’s Forge
  • Port more/the rest of the H:O Elite armor to Halo 3
  • add the Beachhead remake from H:O to ODST
  • clean up and finish anything still cut or missing from H2A and Halo 4, be it Forge, Gameplay, or Cosmetics

Hey man, you have some really good ideas here!
I don’t believe they’re gonna do everything on your list though. Adding the Halo Online weapons, maybe, but new maps? I don’t think so. I think MCC is gonna get the same treatment H5 did when this game came around and took the spotlight. Any and all content that will be coming is pretty much to keep the current playerbase still playing happy until we decide to move on to what’s new. I’m not sure though. Maybe I’m wrong (I hope I am) but like with MCC, I think 343i is now focusing mostly on infinite, and don’t want new maps to possibly get in the way of infinite (especially considering the drama that’s going on rn)
However, the DMR comming to H3’s sandbox doesn’t sound half bad. I just hope it’s not like H4’s DMR where it was just a worse and slower version of the battle rifle. Hopefully it actually has a defined role and purpose in the sandbox. May I ask, what’s wrong with the automag? I haven’t really found it too overpowered. If anything, I find it pretty balanced. Because you have the magnum, a slow shooting pistol with high damage, and then you have the automag which is the opposite: a fast shooting pistol with low damage. They kinda did the same thing with the Plasma Rifle and Brute Plasma Rifle. Of course, obviously fixing any possible issues the game has IS important.

interestingly folders for those maps are listed in Halo 3’s tags now, though the maps are still absent. Last I heard they were still weighing whether the cost of development time and testing needed to finish them was still possible with the downscaling from mainline 343 trying to prop up Infinite (which is not doing to hot right now from what I hear). Best Case is that they might be able to do Skybridge and Reactor, but Powerhouse and Diamondback might be on the chopping block since neither are Original maps, and one is a reskin of an already existing Halo 3 map.

as for the Automag: the issue is that at present it’s a combo of the Halo 5 Socom and CE magnums rather than the Halo 2 Magnum the ODST Automag is based on. obviously it should be a bit stronger than both it’s Halo 2 and ODST counterparts, but it shouldn’t be so strong that it renders something like the H:O DMR nearly redundant in all but range. (as an aside, the H:O DMR is closer to the Reach iteration than the Halo 4 iteration I believe)

Mehh… MCC came out in 2014, before Halo 5, it’s feature development will slow down with Infinite, but when mod supports and server browsing are finished and integrated the game should be pretty stable, it’s still the same legacy Halo games people have loved for a long time.

i hope that Mcc will be like the current version of counter strike classic (1.6) a well populated classic game wich is a place to always return and reexperience the classic games with all that they have to offer. all the new features etc are a blessing on top of that package . lets hope that 343 understands " the holy responsibility that have been trusted to them : to protect the holy grail of gaming " just a joke but i think people agree with me. I dont want to suffer another gamespyshutdown experience in 10 years ( assuming i still game in 10 years lol would be almost 40 by then but who knows ) where some good classics with live multiplayers got killed with only very small hardcorecommunitys left for some specific games like battlefront 2 on tunneling services .

Huh? What? 2014 launch? Broken game didn’t work for four years? No way.
I’m kidding. I’m just saying that the game really did launch in 2018 since before it just straight up didn’t work.

Hmm maybe 343 is gonna pull a call of duty and if the newest one doesn’t do too well, then we’re gonna start updating the old one XD
As for your automag complaint, okay, I see what you mean

Halo was always a bigger sandbox than FotM FPS’s like CoD, I think the classic Halo games should hopefully stick around like the classic Doom games have, especially now that they’re on PC.
Hopefully we see another rework of the progression system for the unlockables to be more inclusive to new players though in the future.

Also on the subject of the Automag I’d much rather just see the fast recoiled one from the campaign, it feels so clunky but not impactful, especially in SWAT, I’d really rather just have to control the fire myself.

Besides finishing the Custom Game Browser, the biggest thing I want that will N E V E R happen is bots. Every FPS in the early 00s had them. Why they were never added to Halo is beyond me. Hell, in 2000, Perfect Dark had like 20 bots and each and a different personality. One day MCC will die hard. Bots would keep it replayable.

Halo CE’s multiplayer portion and 2’s final product came out rushed, and starting with Halo 3 or even 2V if we wanna be technical, they added the ability to give any map your own custom layout, and I just don’t think it was something they felt was necessary to put the time into for a AAA console shooter, as much as I too have wanted it.

This has been my dream for Halo for ages. The first FPS I played (Metroid Prime Hunters) had bots and back then I was shocked to find that wasn’t the standard across all FPS titles, since a FPS on the DS had it. With Infinite it’s become somewhat of a reality, but I’d love to have bots for classic Halo, especially if I could add them to custom games.

If they add anything meaningful, I would prefer it to be bots, although it may be a laborious task. Even so, it’s one of the most substantive additions to the games, in fact, it’d be one of the best ways to preserve the legacy of MCC for all time since we’d have access to the multiplayer experience whenever we wish absent of others.

The closest thing that I’ve found is a Spartan Pit AI mod, but that was far too limited (no fault of the designer, there were genuine limitations imposed by the tools), and it became boring quickly.

I’ve had a blast playing with the bots on Infinite, super fun and casual without having to deal with so much of the typical matchmaking BS. I’d love to experience that for MCC, but alas, that’ll never happen since it’s unlikely that the team would have intentions of implementing an enormous bot mode feature to a dead game when Infinite is already out.

I really hope none of the planned content for Halo MCC gets cut and 343i lets them get it all done, Halo MCC still frequently gets high on the top sellers on Steam and its a great way to play Halo its a very valuable game for new and old players of Halo
