I have recently started playing MCC again. I been having issue where after I play for a few minutes my FPS will drop slowly until it hits around 50 FPS. At this point the game will also being to strutter massively. Last time I played MCC was when Halo 3 ODST dropped, and it was running well above 240 FPS. This happens for both the windows store version and steam version.
I am using a MSI GS75 with an Intel i9-10980HK and a 2080 SUPER MAX Q. As of making this posting, I am using window insider build 20257.1 with Nvidia developer driver version 465.21.
I went ahead and looked at vitals using MSI afterburner and GPU-Z. At first thing that I noticed was that the GPU usage does drop from around 50-60% to 15-30%. Hence 300 FPS to around 50 FPS. Looking at GPU-Z the prefcap (performance cap) reason is “idle”. When looking into the GPU clock, it did idle which is at 900-1100 MHz. The GPU clock should be around 1400-1800 MHz when playing MCC or any other game.
Here are some things that I tried and did not work:
- I changed the Nvidia drivers to multiply different version, one dated back to August of this year - I have disabled and enabled intel integrated GPU - I even bought the steam version. - Limited the CPU clock to get better temps - Changed a bunch of setting in Nvidia control panel - Set MCC to high priority in task managerThe only thing I did not try was use a non-insider build of windows 10, but I don’t know it is worth it. It only does this with game. I get better performance in cyberpunk currently.
