Whenever I try to view the game session details of a friend the list of players loads, stops then crashes the game. The only reason I’m even trying to view the session details is because for whatever reason, I can’t join a friend’s game in the custom browser off their profile despite being able to Halo 5, a game which had the browser 4 years prior to MCC.
That’s a little strange but I don’t think that viewing “Game Session Details” and not being able to join a game from within the “Custom Game Browser”. Are you able to join your friends game from receiving an invite to the game? I have encountered an issue where I can’t join a friend if they are host or sometimes not be able to hear them in the party chat and this due to NAT being on strict either on my end or there’s. If you have not checked this yet, I would check that in your router settings. As for the game crashing when viewing the Game Session Details what version of MCC are you using? If you are on Steam you can try to verify the integrity of the game files. I have encountered a lot of crashes, just not that one yet. The solution to joining your friends game may not work, but it has worked for me in the past and that’s why I mentioned it here to try and help you. I’m not sure about the crashing issue, but that’s one thing I could think of that may help.
If you haven’t already file a ticket on waypoint with halo support about this so 343 can look into this. Obviously whenever the game crashes something is wrong.

That’s a really common one. That bug has been around for the last 2 seasons I think. I don’t really know what causes it, most of the time checking game session details is fine. When it does crash the game, it is consistent, you can go back in and try to check the same players game session details and it will crash your game 100% of the time.
The work around I use is to use the “happening now” in the Xbox menu, that will show you who’s partied up together.
As this appears to be an issue with your game, we recommend heading over to https://aka.ms/HaloSupport for further assistance. Please review the latest known issues and submit a ticket if your issue is not listed.
