As like many of you I have enjoyed the Halo franchise from the beginning.
Remembering how fun it was to play with my friend taking on the Covenant and the Flood as a super soldier we decided to purchase the MCC to come back and have some fun.
Only to our surprise we can’t play together.
We have not been able to join each other to play the campaigns. It’ll say joining for awhile, then it’ll say connection failed. No matter what we do we cannot connect.
We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, hard resets, EVERYTHING.
Is there some fix, or are the servers/game just broken?
Only things you can try on your end to resolve the issue are the following:
Port forward
Ensure both of you have an open NAT
Try Ethernet/Wireless (opposite of whichever connection you are using now)
Failing that, there are known issues with MCC’s connectivity, as well as known issues in particular with Halo 2’s campaign not loading (ironically, this issue also occurs in H2V’s campaign co-op mod).
Otherwise, you may have to wait for MCC’s first major update, although there is still no ETA on that as the game is currently undergoing testing as part of the ‘flighting’ program before any major patch is pushed through to the game.

Thanks we’ll try those too.
I cant believe they have yet to really update this.

Hopefully it will resolve the issue. You can check your NAT types on the Xbox One Network Settings.
Agreed, though I am glad that 343 are being transparent and finally fixing MCC so hopefully it will be the game that it was meant to be.
Has anyone found a fix to this yet? I basically can’t join any of my friends. I have tried everything suggested since 2014 and nothing had worked. How come this isn’t a problem on any other games?

It’s MCC-specific since all the online components of the game are pretty much broken. That’s what the upcoming update serves to resolve.
Literally my game says I have a network error and I cannot play with friends it has been an issues since the 73GB update I was able to connect before now I can’t and it’s pretty mych as waste of money if I can’t join friends
