This broke back in February/March and all the solutions are to update windows.
Problem is, windows won’t update.
I can’t get the last 3 Windows updates that were released for Windows 7 because it just fails for no reason I can find.
However, the solution to fix Halo shouldn’t be to update Windows, it should be that Halo should get fixed. Seriously wtf 343? Fix your game, it’s basically unplayable that I can’t pick up weapons. The solution should not be updating Windows, it worked months ago just fine.

You may want to consider upgrading to Windows 10. W7 is not supported anymore by MS. I wouldn’t even be surprised if 343 drops support for 7 in the near future.

Or stop using Windows 7?
Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 7 already I mean 343 shouldn’t have even spent time porting it to other operating systems to be honest considering essentially everyone is already on Windows 10.
As others have mentioned, using a non-supported operating system is more of an issue here, considering the problem is a known issue with a patch to the operating system. Either upgrade (there are some methods still to upgrade for free) or fix your patching issue.
I don’t believe this is something that can be fixed in-game OP, otherwise I imagine a fix would already be available. If it’s a Windows update that’s required to fix it, something has obviously changed within Windows itself (or related apis). While Windows 7 is still a supported OS for MCC, it’s definitely advisable to upgrade to 10 as soon as possible.
343 sold the game as compatible with Windows 7, it should be compatible with Windows 7.
They’re the ones who updated the game and broke functionality with the fix being updating Operating System, it worked fine last year. That implies it’s not an OS issue, that’s an issue with the game.
It is compatible with Windows 7, it just requires the latest updates to be installed. If you’re having trouble installing them then I recommend reaching out to Microsoft Support, it’s not really 343’s issue if your PC won’t update.
Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 in January. This update came out after January. Microsoft cannot and will not help, and it is entirely 343’s fault.
