Maybe Too Technical, But...

Reading a lot of threads about DMR versus BR. And that the DMR is more powerful (opinions may vary). Here are the specs for each weapon, and it may make a little more sense to some.

DMR:
AMMUNITION TYPE: M118 FMJ-AP (That is Full Metal Jacket - Armor Pierecing or Anti-Personnel – it does’t matter which.)
AMMUNITION SIZE: 7.62 x 51mm (This is the same round used in the US M240 general purpose machine gun, and formerly by the M60 – Rambo’s favorite from “First Blood.”

Battle Rifle:
AMMUNITION TYPE: M634 X-HP-SAP (Experimental High-Powered Semi-Armor-Piercing)
AMMUNITION SIZE: 9.5 x 40mm

Ok, a round with the same caliber as the AK-47 (this one slightly longer) Versus a gansta caliber (slightly longer here) nine freaking millimeter. Three round burst or not, a .308 will trump a pissant 9mm any day of the week.

I’ll stick to my DMR, thanks.

it’s a video game who gives a flying -Yoink-

I agree. Just trying to offer some insight on why something may be the way it is for reason so we can move past it.

Thanks for your input, though.

You’re a nerd.

I’m actually not.

That’s a bit rude.
Ever think Halo Waypoint lists these details because, I don’t know… maybe people would like to know these things?

Ok just wanted to make sure.

You’re on the halo waypoint forum your a nerd for sure.

That’s a totally unnecessary comment either post constructive feedback or don’t post at all.

I just come here because of all the jimmie rustling.

It is constructive, it’s letting him know that the information he posted was both useless and nerdy.

OP, very cool thread and kudos on picking up the info. I shot competitively, so I’ve always been interested in this kind of stuff. Its nice to know there is a reason behind the power of the DMR. BUT, maybe because its more powerful, shouldn’t it have more recoil?

The information may be useless to YOU but others might find it to be insightful to say the least.

There’s no way to put this information to use considering that this game is completely virtual and knowing this information will not change any aspect of the game.

When I read that, all I could think of is revenge of the nerds.

And to everyone else. Just because of it’s specs does not mean it should have ‘X’ amount of stopping power and ‘X’ distance. It’s a video game and when things are OP, they need fixed. Part of the DMR’s problems are the core game mechanic itself. Halo 4 is sporting the noob assist 1.0 mod. Giving everyone the most aim assist and bullet magnetism than any other Halo game to date.

Before you cry foul, test it yourself in customs. Grab a DMR and Sniper and just see how much bullet magnetism is out there. Aim slightly over the head and you will still get a headshot, your reticle doesn’t even have to be on the head for a headshot.

And if you are still saying it’s BS, hop in the side of a warthog and do the same thing, you can be WAY above their head and still get a headshot.

Pssh. precision weapons are for pros. its all about the rockets

Sure you may like knowing it, but the info is completely useless.
