Maybe this isn't for me? PC gamer thoughts.

I tried the Beta over the weekend and thought it was alright. I had fun for what it was, but I don’t see it being something I would put a lot of hours into. It does feel like a Halo game and I’m not sure that’s the best thing (for me). Just an opinion guys.

Sprint - Feels to close to the base speed and needs to be faster. I’m not sure if this is accurate, but a quick search says it’s about an 8% increase. Honestly it needs to be double that. Which looks like it’s actually the speed increase in Halo 5. There’s also a weird delay sometimes where you can’t tell if you’re actually sprinting or not right away.

Sliding - It feels too locked in and doesn’t serve any purpose. It definitely has a place in the game, but needs be more useful. It should have either a bump in speed on the start of a slide, then slowing down towards the end below sprint speed. It would keep the flow of the game if you could actually reload while sliding.

TTK - It’s pretty high, which I normally prefer higher TTK’s in games, but having to unload nearly the full clip of an AR into someone without missing seems a bit high. I can see both sides of this one though. I hate COD games and think winning a gunfight just because you see someone first is trash. I felt like the feedback for landing shots was sorta underwhelming too for some reason.

Aim Assist - This one concerns me because what I’m seeing in the forums. People are asking for a buff in AA and saying that movement is too fast! That would kill the game for most PC gamers using a keyboard and mouse. If the game gets slowed down and aim assist gets increased that sounds like a really boring shooter with no skill gap. Just slow moving turrets locking on to each other lol.

Final Thoughts - Sprint speed needs to be a touch faster. Sliding needs to be developed more and tweaked to have more utility besides coming out of a grapple or down a decline. TTK is slightly too high, but could be a symptom of movement. Overall the game feels a little slow and floaty. The foundation is there and can definitely be tweaked.

It could be that this just isn’t my game, but It looks cool and I love the aesthetics of everything. I feel like it’ll be popular in the beginning because of nostalgia, but after that I’m not sure if the MP will survive.

They don’t necessarily need to buff aim assist I agree but that’s not the issue it’s the underlying aim mechanics themselves with in the game… loss of red reticle range… wonky right stick aim bad hit registration it’s an underlying issue i don’t know why everyone keeps saying aim assist…

That makes sense.

Need to hard disagree. Halo Infinite’s speed and TTK is already a good bit faster than the Bungie games, making it much faster and its just as terrible as Halo 5, right now its on a fine line between being too fast like H5, and being amazing like Bungie’s titles.

Those Bungie games came out quite a long time ago and I don’t think they were particularly popular on PC. They were a huge success on console and showed that there was a market for shooters on them.

Halo just feels dated in comparison to new shooters. Infinite has a chance to appeal to PC gamers, but it has to speed somethings up. Don’t worry, I doubt the game will go any direction that I would like to see it go in, but that’s why I stated it’s probably not my game.

I mainly play Apex, BF5, and a little Destiny 2 currently and those games feel smoother and faster. The movement feels more satisfying in those games.

Sprint - Yeah I have to agree that the sprint is almost useless. But this is a age old debate about whether sprint ruins the flow of the game. The biggest one being that the high TTK + sprint is painful having people constantly running away. Hence the whole Halo 5 shields not charging while sprinting.

Sliding - Agreed, I think there needs to be a way to control this slide.

TTK - hard no, high TTK defines halo. There’d really be no point making this match other shooters.

Aim Assist - I really don’t understand why halo seems to be targeted for this debate. People pretending like the “modern shooters” like Apex and destiny don’t have aim assist.
I’m guessing this is due to the shoot from the hip mechanics. To me the shoot from the hip whilst jumping around and strafing is the most defining aspect of halo. Guaranteed to ruin this game and “slow” the TTK for controller players if you reduce it… or the even more ridiculous notions to remove it entirely.

Other Halo games had more aim assist. Do you find them boring?

Also, even if they buff it, if they have match making based on input how would the buff ruin the experience for you? You could just not play with controller users.

I disagree with the speed, it’s fine the way it is.
H5 has a higher speed than HI, in some matches in H5, I have been overwhelmed by the enemy team, they killed me on one side of the map and while I respawn they have made it towards me on the other side of the map.
AA for me is fine, has a higher skill gap the way it is, the increased power on AR leads to the use of many weapons, not only the sidekick, which in H5 (magnum) seems the only weapon.
I understand why PC gamers will find it hard to like this game

In conclusion you want a Call of Duty: Infinite.

Hard pass

Halo 5 TTK is way higher than Infinite, stop the blind hate, Halo Infinite TTK is the smallest of all Halos till today.

I respect your opinion. Halo is not for everyone.
