As much as I enjoy Kazuma Jinnouchi’s contribution, this really is fantastic.
Halo just doesn’t sound like Halo without Marty.

I agree I miss the music Marty did for halo.
Marty’s music wouldn’t fit in this saga of games unfortunately.
The other day I even said, “I wish Halo 5 had that bad -Yoink- guitar intro from Halo 2.”

Agreed! I can listen to the HCE, H2, and H3 soundtracks over and over again and never get bored. Heck, I have a playlist that has all of the songs from those three placed in alphabetical order, and listening on shuffle gives a different listening experience each time. I even once created a thread in the General Discussions forum explaining why I think the new music doesn’t feel like “Halo”, and therefore what about the original music defined the series. (I can link it to you if you wish to read it.)

OMG, yes! That’s one reason why I love the “Prologue” track from Halo 2’s soundtrack - that plus the amazing music that plays during the opening cutscene! <3
The original Halo music just felt so…“grounded”, and less like techno dance music/high Hollywood score.
Considering that Kazuma is using some classics like “Never Forget (Midnight Version)” and “The Trials”, we may be seeing more of Marty’s work, just from Kazuma.

Sadly this. The original Halo trilogy is more gritty and semi-realistic yet sometimes funny and upbeat compared to the newer games. You could say the new games have kind of went into the anime sci-fi direction, with much more serious and darker/emotional themes and more unrealistic (or over the top) things happening.

Explain.

So you’re just flat out saying Marty isn’t capable of composing music in the set tone of the game it accompanies…
When that’s exactly what he did last time?
I was playing MCC campaigns recently and I really miss the old music.
I think Kazuma makes great music. I don’t miss Marty I was ready for a change.

Yes, change. Davidge and Kazuma are doing an incredible job with their music.
Halo don’t need to have nostalgic songs all the time, so what is the purpose of an original soundtrack?
me wants more marty, he was great
i have to say, even though i do really enjoy the new trilogy music(i LOVED arrival from halo 4!!!) it sounds almost completely differnet from the original trilogy. but i dont have an issue with that because they both seem to be telling different stories within them. i dont see the old music fitting too well as is within the reclaimer saga. that said i dont see the music from the reclaimer saga fitting into the original trilogy.
Buuuuut you just can’t beat the Halo 2 soundtrack!!!

Hell no to Davidge (though I thought ‘To Galaxy’ in Halo 4 was a nice track)
But I hope if nothing else Kazuma keeps the lead and pays homage to Halo’s root while adding his own flair. I still love the multiplayer intermission theme and main menu themes from Kazuma. A beautiful blend of new and old.

Whaaaaaaat? How can you dislike “Legacy,” “Requiem” and especially “Arrival?” Or how about “Revival,” and “Immaterial?” Halo 4 really had a brilliant OST.

“117”. “Green and Blue”.

Kazuma Jinnouchi composed 117.
Of course, Marty’s music is award winning. I haven’t heard of any of 343’s Halos winning awards for their scores.
You guys want to hear some of Marty’s pre-Halo music?
Also, can someone please explain this to me: how can Halo 5’s OST be so bad and Marty’s be so good when Halo 5’s OST is comprised of many pieces of Marty’s music from CE, Halo 3, and Halo Reach? A lot of Marty’s music is in Halo 5’s sound track. The opening to the mission “Blue Team” is the music at the very beginning of CE (then it transitions into a piece from Halo 4, then back to the classic CE Halo theme as they’re flying through the asteroid field). The big fight in the mission “The Breaking” just before the 3 Wardens is the Halo 3 theme. The part in “Swords of Sanghelios” where you’re approaching the Council Chamber is from Reach.
So I don’t understand it. What’s the big gripe. Can there be NO new music at all? Not even music for Osiris? Everyone said after Halo 4 “bring back the classic music”, so they did … and I keep seeing these threads, so is it a no compromise thing where it’s all or nothing? Are you all the same people who listen to the kinds of radio stations that play the same 8 or 9 pop songs on rotation ad nauseam? Who just want Halo 3 armors, Halo 3 music, Halo 3 guns, Halo 3 gametypes, Halo 3 everything? Because … that’s already a game. This Halo has a “5” after the title.
Anyway, yeah, there is Marty music in Halo 5–a lot of it–so what’s the deal?
