Maybe I'm starting to warm up a little.....

Have you ever watched a movie for the first time and been like: Wow, I didn’t like that movie. I’m really upset with it.
Then for some reason you see it again, and the second time you’re like.:Hmmm, maybe that wasn’t so bad after all. And then by some circumstance you watch it again, and each time you appreciate it a little more? That’s how I felt about Halo 5’s campaign but I’ve played it through a few times…and now I’m starting to like it a little more. I’ve listened to the dialogue more closely and more.
So now I don’t completely dislike the campaign, but I do think there are some reasons it could be better.

  • More Chief action! - More Chief action! - And MOORRREEE Chief action! Blue Team only got three missions. That was stupid.

  • Make fireteam Osiris more human less like robots. - Everyone but Buck seemed pretty…mellow and robotic. They didn’t seem to have much personality. What I loved about Blue Team is that they seemed like family and they fit well together.

  • Don’t have the best moments in the cutscenes.
Remember the fight against Tartarus in Halo 2? Can you imagine if that was in a cutscene? That was Jul and I think the Didact…I mean there was some player input but not much for the last fight with the Didact.

That kind of wraps it up…

I think that Halo 5 is just used to lead up to Halo 6. I personally think that Halo 6 was planned first, but there was this huge gap that needed to be filled. Halo 5 is that gap. They wanted Halo 5 to have a story of its own, so they started the Locke vs. Chief story for Halo 5, which wasn’t really shown too much. Possibly shown more in Halo 6 if something happens.

I also know that a lot of people are very angry that Cortana was just magically not dead, (I was mostly angry that it was told in the 2nd mission and not later on),but the thing is, it’s not completely her. It’s a fragment of her rampant self. Maybe we look for the other fragments? I like the thought of having the feeling of not being able to do anything. Cortana can have full control of the galaxy with her Guardians (and possibly the Halo Ring and Ark). Cortana also has knowledge of the Covenant, Humans, Flood, and Forerunner. Cortana is the dictator over all and the Created is her army. Depending on when Halo 6 takes place, we will have a feeling in a Halo game that we have never gotten before.

Halo Wars 2 could lead us to “Halo 6’s Doorstep” (H3A Terminals as well if they decide to so.) HW2 could lead to the Banished being in Halo 6 returning many fan-favorite things, such as Brutes. (maybe even the old art style) I’m very excited for HW2, even though I’m horrible at RTS games.

When I first played Halo 5’s campaign, I was disappointed, but the closer we get to Halo 6, with every novel, video game, lore, etc. I appreciate Halo 5’s campaign more and more. I’m also going to say this, in Halo 4, they nailed the Campaign, in Halo 5, they nailed the Multiplayer. Hopefully 343 mashes both of these into Halo 6.

EDIT: I agree with you OP. More Chief would appreciated. I would like more Chief and Arby as well. And if there is a large boss battle, no cutscene or quick time event.

TLDR: I think that the fate of Halo 5’s story depends on how Halo Wars 2 and Halo 6 is played.

Yeah that makes sense…if Halo 6 isn’t good…
