I lost several games in a row due to bad team mates but through no fault of their own, the server placed me in disgustingly unbalanced games and slowly took me back to diamond 6 even though i played better than my team mates in most games. Maybe there arent enough onyx players searching? even though most players are in onyx and it is very populated, it can find a team of 4 onyxes for the other team? i guess it cant for mine. Im just not as good as i thought i was. LOL it has nothing to do with unbalanced teams. Funny how ive seen some streamers complain about unabalanced teams next thing you know in two games of winning in diamond 6 they got to onyx. 343 has the ability to give players ranks.
One think I’ve found with the Trueskill2 system is, even if you have good streaks or bad streaks, if you play enough you will be the rank you are supposed to be. The system does kinda force you to become the rank you consistently play at.

If you drop from onyx to diamond do you lose the onyx weapon emblem?
Yep. If the system is confident in your rank (narrow skill curve) it tends to resist change. You really have to lose quite a few games in a row - or get beaten by some really (relatively) bad teams to shift your rank.
But thankfully it doesn’t lock as hard as it used to in Halo 3

You do not, I went drom onyx with my buddies, down to diamond 6 with randoms, and still have my emblems
