I have been a Halo player since Day 1. I have bought every true halo title on launch Day except for 4 which is I got soon after. I never was a huge fan of sprint. I hated AAs. I have always advocated BR starts for my competitive play. Yet for some reason, the Halo 5 beta is hands down the most fun I have had with a video game in years.
I think maybe it is because I am getting older. I am 30 now. I have a family and a career. These days, if I jump into a custom lobby of people with competitive aspirations I usually end up getting wrecked. I was never good enough to be “MLG” or whatnot, but I was a legit 40 in Halo 2 and 46 in Halo 3. Not great, but better than average.
I think it is pretty clear that is most respects, Halo 5 has a lower “skill gap” than the older titles. Then again, so do Reach and 4. I loved those games for what they were but I never thought about those games at work all day. With the beta for 5, I did.
I guess I don’t have much of a point except to say that for me, Halo 5 is just this crazy fun game that I am really excited to play again.
