Does anyone have a pair of these? I have been reading up on them, most review say they have the best sound out of their equally prices Tritton, and Turtle beach competitors.
I have a pair of the A40s with the newer wireless mixamp and they are awesome. Everyone I know preaches turtle beaches or Tritons but when I use them I notice the differences immediately. They may be expensive but they are well worth the price tag. IMO get a pair off eBay but if money is no object it would hurt to get them from the source. Either way you will be pleased.

it will just be a stereo headset without the mix amp.
I just ordered some a40s. They should be here in a few days! 
AH I want a pair so bad. I used to have the PX5 from Turtle Beach and not going to lie they were damn good. Now I’m not saying they are any better than any other headsets because I’ve never tried other ones. But I really want some Astros. Im very jealous of you people.
I have the A40’s with rechargeable mixamp. If you can swing the loot, you can’t go wrong with Astros.
What a coincidence, I bought some A50’s about 4 hours ago for the same reason. The mixamp is BUILT INTO the headset, it’s amazing. I haven’t used them wirelessly yet as they’re still charging, but I played with them wired once and they are AWESOME. None of the faults I thought would come from a wireless headset.
I’ve got the tritton warheads and i like them kinda, but they leave alot to be desired as far as comfort goes so i maybe returning them and getting the a50s.
If Sennheiser HD 558 or 598 were able to used with the Xbox 360, then -Yoink!-. I hate seeing overpriced headsets just because they have a mic :S
I bought A50s at their release and it was a nightmare. They had so many bugs and the support forums were going crazy. They fixed them and now they are UNREAL.
So basically if you buy them new as of now, definitely go for it. If you are getting them used from someone I would say stay away, since that person might not have gone through the hardware upgrade which is a pain, and won’t be ready in time for Halo 4
I used to use A40’s but they failed me over and over and over. You pay a lot of money but they fail after lots of use. Either the mix amp, or the cords fail, and then you can’t buy them because they are out of stock, plus their customer service FAILS.
I had a similar issue with cords suddenly failing me with my set of Tritton ax Pros. For whatever reason these “high-end” headsets just don’t have the durability and longevity to be worth the money.
I personally have never had a problem with Turtle Beaches over the years and I have had two pairs.
I personally recommend buying TBs but its your choice in the end. Just my opinion based on past issues.
I have a pair of A50s and the new 2013 edition of the A40s. The first set of A50s sold, as said by someone else were a nightmare. Now they are amazing. The A40s are equally impressive. The only real difference are the wireless compatibility of the A50s and the daisy chain option of the A40s,(which is my favorite perk). If I had to pick the better one I would say the A40s. The A50s are still new technology and so much can still go wrong with them. A40s do have a lot more wires but they do come more in handy in competitive situations. As for customer service I can only speak for myself but they have been awesome.

Question, can they be used as regular headphones too, and can someone confirm for sure that I don’t need the mix amp for them to be used in 7.1 on the Xbox?
I have the A40’s and they are amazing. I just hate the wires.
I’ve spoken to a few people who have the A50’s and they love them. They only had an issue from the start because they needed a software update, which all new A50’s come pre-loaded with!

I have the A50s and currently use them them all the time. I love them! I have the A40s, TB X42s, and a stereo headset. The A50s are my favorite by-far. Just make sure it has the latest firmware and they will serve you well sir. Also my A40s I’ve had for years and they still rock! I recommend Astro to anyone.

Yes you can use them as headphones. For the A50s all you need is the optical cable and wireless transmitter it comes with to use 7.1.
