I really miss this playlist, as does pretty much everyone else who I remind that plays Reach.
What was nice about this playlist is that you had an even mix of Forge World and Reach shipped maps to choose from in the pregame lobby. Maps like Boardwalk, Zealot, Countdown, Reflection, and Asylum all played pretty well with Squad Slayer settings, which featured DMR loadouts often. The kill counts went up to 75, and the games flowed pretty well. AAs like Camo and Jetpack were still usable, but the best thing about Squad Slayer was that Armor Lock was not available.
Another nice thing about Squad Slayer was that if you had a couple buddies over, you could go into matchmaking with a couple local players on your Xbox. This has become a rarity these days in Reach, due to technical issues within the game.
Squad Slayer also had Big Party restrictions. That is, if you searched with a party of five, you were often matched against a party of five. Some cases it would be a party of four plus a random player.
A lot of players in addition to myself miss this playlist. It was definitely up there with the better playlists of Reach. The gameplay was smooth, the maps played well, and was an overall decent experience in Reach.
They aren’t going to bring it back. People have been complaining about it for months, and they still haven’t brought it back. Have you ever thought that maybe there was a good reason they removed it in the first place?

What was the good reason? That it had a steady 3k population, no Sword Base, no crappy Forge maps, fast paced enjoyable Halo Reach experience with bleed? Nah. Haven’t thought that.

The only reason it was removed was because it would have been redundant keeping it as well as Team Slayer & The Arena when they introduced Super Slayer.
I personally would have preferred keeping Squad Slayer, but having a 4v4 TU playlist made more sense.
i wish they bring it back with AA as pick up
what i did like about squad slayer is
1- no forge world
2- no swordbase
3-no AL or AC
4-i dont know if it have algorithm to make DLC show up more but i used to play alot of tempest in that playlist
5- DMRS
6- add AA as pick up in this playlist will be a heaven to me

Dude… Super Slayer is NOT a good reason in any kind of way ok? At least if they are not bringing it back, upgrade Super Slayer so theres no AL, it only searches for Full parties when full partied and 5 players
They should focus on getting the amount of playlists down to around 12-14 with the launch of Halo 4, the population will be extraordinarily low in Reach.

Why can’t they just remove Super Slayer and add back Squad Slayer? No one really plays Super Slayer.
As much as I do miss Squad, I have a feeling that Super will be cut once consolidation starts and Reach really shouldn’t have any niche Slayer playlists once Halo 4 is released.

Unfortunately, there aren’t very many. I’m starting to think that 343 wasted their time with nerfing it in the TU because the same people will still complain about it in small team environments and demand it’s removal, and the nerf isn’t necessary anywhere else.
Taking out Squad Slayer fro mMM was about as warranted as was taking out Select from the map selection. I’m still waiting on their justification excuse.

Complaining about it and still seeing it as the “limited” implementation that it is are two different things. Just because we laugh at the people who still use it like you did when it was pre-TU doesn’t mean we like it any more.

How are you happy it’s gone? If you didn’t like it, simply don’t play it. How does it affect you if you don’t play it?

Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but Squad Slayer wasn’t that more popular in terms of players on it compared to Super Slayer.

I think either Super Slayer and Arena will be consolidated into one playlist, or they will both be cut with TU Slayer game types becoming an option in Team Slayer.

I only used it at the very start of Reach, then realized I wasn’t successful most of the time (Blinded by nostalgia for the new game), and I completely stopped using it. Besides, didn’t I just say in another post that I want Squad Slayer back, which featured no AL?
What I meant was that people wanted it removed no matter the version of TU. If it had never been in small team playlists in the first place (where it didn’t belong), then it was an unneeded part of the TU since it worked fine in BTB because you’re up close less often and sometimes not at all.

I’m not sure if 343 is willing to remove the Arena ranking system for Reach. If it comes to population, Super Slayer’s probably out, even The Arena beats it.
