Star Wars helped pave the way for sci-fi movies and video games! There wouldn’t be Halo without Star Wars!

…and without John Carter, we wouldn’t have Star Wars. Or Star Trek. Or ME. Or Halo.
Basically anything sci fi related owes the story John Carter a great debt.

Yeah, Star Trek and Star Wars aren’t the two Sci Fi movies/TV shows that paved the way for other Sci Fi movies, TV shows, and video games.
It was the John Carter of Mars that put Sci Fi on the map.

To be fair though, Carter apparently didn’t hold his own for a generation like the others did. Has anyone ever had a John Carter themed wedding? I think nots.
I never even really heard about John Carter until the recent failed flick. My horizons possibly need expansions. Although, I get by just fine.
That aside, SW may not have paved the way but it’s one of the most coveted names in Sci-Fi and that’s very unlikely to be taken from it.

Actually, many have used Princess Dejah’s wedding dress for their own weddings.
Regardless, just because it’s not as main stream as Star Wars or Star Trek, or just because you haven’t heard of it, has nothing to do with the validity of the fact that this is the movie that got the science fiction ball rolling.
It’s a great flick, you should check it out.
OT: Happy Star Wars Day as well! I’ll be watching the original trilogy in celebration!

I have a confession, I have NEVER watched anything related to Star Wars, I probably won’t be so derped out from the phrase if I had watched a film or two.

Protip: Watch only Episode 4-6 and make sure it’s not the edited versions. Lucas destroys everything he touches. =.=

well you should definitely watch them so that way you could at LEAST have an honest opinion about the franchise. as well as theres a TON of pop culture references and jokes made towards the movie that you wouldn’t get or find funny unless having seen the movies.

i’ve watched plenty of movies i knew i wouldn’t like, just be able to have a respectable opinion about them if ever they came up in conversation.

I attempted to watch one of the films, I believe it was the one when Darth Vader was made or something like that, I fell asleep during it, not because it sucked, I enjoyed about a good five minutes of it, but it was extremely late.
Wore my Star Wars shirt and jacket today. Twas awesome.
