Maximum Ammo Capacity

It’s not necessarily a big issue for me but it is a bit annoying, especially in Halo 4. The maximum ammo limit for all the human weapons felt surprisingly low for my taste. What confuses me the most is that starting from Reach, maximum ammo capacity for all the ballistic weapons decreased. I found myself always running low or out on ammo and having to switch to enemy weapons to get through the level. Why is it that spartans somehow aren’t able to carry as much mags or something?

Mainly because of the ammo perk. They didn’t want people to have a ridiculous amount of ammo when using it, but they didn’t want the perk to be useless.

So what better way to make it work by reducing the max ammo on normal weapons.

Pretty much this ^

If the get rid of perks in halo 5 (I hope they do) then they need to raise the amount of ammo the defaults guns have.

224 rounds for the AR is not enough. I want 352 back, or at least 288.

I feel your pain but it isn’t just human weapons, the CC also suffers from this. Not all shots that you fire are expected to hit their mark, suppressing your enemy is a real factor that 343 seemed to ignore.

So long as we get some static spawn love for starting weapons so we can replenish our ammo and they increase the time needed for a dropped weapon to despawn by a bit then I think we should be ok again.

I thought this was especially hampering in Spartan Ops. Apparently Spartan IV’s don’t know what a full combat loadout is, because I ran out of ammo for my primary and my sidearm in nearly every mission.

In SpOps, you just gotta keep your eyes open for the little green crates. Run up to them and voila, ammo!

I do agree that ammo was nerfed a lot, but it is just like Moa said. Some things were tweaked to make armor mods more viable options. It’s all part of the trade-off system. I picked this, but because I picked that I don’t have this.

I disliked this. You should go out on a op fully prepared for what you might face, not dependent on ammo that might be in the field.

It is set to an uncomfortably low ceiling. I always find myself running out of ammo for my carbine before death and having to pick weapons off the fallen. I think it’s a realistic amount though, there ought to be another way to find ammo though. Maybe a crate at each base? It seems like such a simple fix that it probably won’t work.

The ideal solution would be to not have weapons despawn after 12 seconds like they do in Halo 4, then you can pick up ammo from dead players.

As far as I know, it’s an engine restriction that’s making that happen. It didn’t really help that for months, weapons weren’t placed around the map like in prior games. You either had to just die, or find a player who had died in the last 12 seconds and hoped they had your weapon.

The ammo limit would be fine for matchmaking as long as weapons didn’t despawn so fast. I just like the idea of having forage for ammo off the dead myself. It was just so poorly implemented in Halo 4.

This is due to the Loadout system. Calculating the average time per life, you probably aren’t living long enough to spend all of your ammo. Not saying I wouldn’t mind a boost but its all about balancing.

Like many other people have said, it is to balance the Ammo perk and the weapon despawn times. Personally, I agree. I almost always ran out of ammo in Halo 4 even with the ammo perk. I also hated the ridiculously short weapon despawn times, but that is a slightly different issue.
