Maximum allowed party size has been exceeded

Been playing invasion since it’s classed as competitive but on social games, I get an error saying “The maximum allowed party size has been exceeded”
so it won’t let me search.
I’m the only person signed in on my console and I’ll try again tomorrow but any ideas in the mean time?
