So Im currently playing Max Payne 3 with NO AIM ASSIST on the Xbox 360 and it works absolutely fine and kills are that much more satisfying. There’s no aim assistance, and the auto-aim is customizable. You can have it be hard-lock, soft-lock, or free aim(No aim assists).
“Wait, so you CAN use auto-aim for multiplayer o.O?” Yes, you can but you dont have too if you dont want to.
They have two playlists for all the game modes. One for people who use no auto-aim, and one for those who do (you can choose to use the soft-lock auto-aim online if you wish).
People using one option will never get matched up with people using the other option.
So why dont other competitive console shooters like Halo have an option like this? Why is there a no aim assistance option in a Rockstar game of all games, and not a Halo game?
I think Halo 4 should have an option for no aim assistance and play-lists without Aim assistance. The skill gap would sky-rocket and if single-player focused games like Max Payne 3 can do it, Halo 4 could surely have a similar option available for aim assistance or without it.
This would ensure that Halo 4 is a great competitive title just by adding this option. What do y’all think should H4 have a no aim assist option like Max Payne 3 successively has implemented?
Black ops already gives us an option to turn it off, but aside from combat training, lag completely makes it unbalanced. So since 343i won’t include dedicated servers, aim assist is crucial to compensate for lag.

No. That’s magnetism you’re talking about.
Magnetism makes your bullets gravitate towards your target. Like you said, it compensates for lag.
Aim assist reduces your sensitivity when your crosshair is red. It has nothing to do with lag. Many PC games don’t have aim assist even though they’re played online. The only reason console games have aim assist is because a controller’s thumbsticks are less accurate than a mouse.
In my opinion you should be able to configure how strong the aim assist is in custom games. You could have normal aim assist for social matches and low or no aim assist for ranked matches.
Halo’s “Aim Assist” doesn’t come close to what’s available with Max Payne. You seem like you’re just trying to convince yourself over the “horrors” of what it is when it’s not what you think it is.

No, I just think its stupid that Max Payne has a no aim assist option, while Halo fans have been asking for this for awhile now and we never get the option to turn it off or play without it.
Lag issues aside, it could be used for LAN and maybe a few specific play-lists in H4. Me and my buddies still LAN Halo 1 which had little to no aim assist and that Halo game has the best aiming in my opinion and more aim skill. The people who say that no aim assist would be too difficult are morons, plenty of console shooters have no or less aim assist than Halo and work perfectly fine.

^^This, at least have it as a custom option so we could use no aim assist for LAN.
