Now this is obviously very subjective, I’m just curious as to people’s opinions. Right now, I’m 146 in Halo 5, at about 9.2 million XP. In addition, I’m at Sergeant of Tour 4 on MCC. I know it comes down to personal preference and all that, but just for fun…which should I pursue first? Trying to hit 152 or max out my rank in MCC? I’ll likely switch back and forth based on what I feel like playing (after all, why play if you’re not having fun?).

MCC is a better game, so I would suggest playing that over H5.
Halo 5 was terrible. TMCC as it is now is the best game. I don’t grind but if that were my objective it would have to be TMCC.
Personally speaking, after a few games of Mythic Firefight, I got bored. I would say Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the game to play at the moment.

I just read up on what the XP was for Max Tour. I knew each tour required more XP than the last, but holy zombie jeebus that’s a TON. 152 would take me months to hit from 146, but at least it’s doable with the Legendary boosts I have and the double XP weekends.
As far as maxing out is concerned, stick with Halo 5. You will get something small in Halo infinite while MCC will take years to max out.
Play whatever you enjoy more. Sure there is some token of appreciation in Infinite for 152 bit they have pretty much said it’s nothing big like armor or anything.

Yup. I prefer to PLAY MCC over 5 any day. But if max rank is your goal go for 5 as it’s not possible in MCC.

Maybe that is the reason to go for max rank in MCC. The fact that it is the most loft goal to go for…?

Do both. Halo 5 first. Dunno about how much population is left, but you might still have time.
Mcc is bragging rights. If 343 didn’t change one thing from old reach, I’d probably be grinding mcc.

The problem with MCC is that the requirement is just that insane. Like I said earlier, It takes about 6 Years at the best most unrealistic scenario. Which is 6 hours EVERY DAY reaching max XP for Teamwork, performance, and match completion. So if you are an average player who gets only 8 hours a week and can’t magically make the game give the best XP… You will take about 10 years.
There are no bragging rights because at best there will 1 MAYBE 2 people in the world to get max rank in MCC.
It took me three bloody months to go from 146 to 147 in H5. Nope. Waste of time

Inheritor and 152 seemed like a lot at the beginning.
If mcc reach firefight had og heroic settings i would have been well on my way in the grind. Its a pandemic, and there was double xp. odst comes out, then eventually halo 5. 
You’d have more of a realistic chance of getting max rank in H5 compared to MCC.

No. 152 and Inheritor are child’s play in comparison to MCC. Inheritor and 152 don’t take YEARS of dedicated playing of no life to get. It is not that it looks “a lot in the beginning” there is a very real chance it will never be reached.
If you’re set on getting max rank you’d be better of with h5, but you still have a tremendous amount to go there too.
I’d say do Halo 5 first, MCC max rank is SO far away. But if you want to have fun and not become a zombie then you can play back and forth like you said

On one hand, MCC is by popular opinion the better game but like others have said, you won’t be able to max out rank any time soon. On the other hand, you’re closer to finishing Halo 5 and if you’re like me and just need all the cosmetics, you’ll want to max out before Infinite to get some exclusive armour (I assume it will be exclusive, and not get the same treatment as Helioskrill…) for the new game.
Tl;dr: Halo 5 if you’re concerned about maxing stats in a shorter time, MCC if you want to have fun while doing it over a much longer period.
