Matchmaking!!??

Ok so I have being working on some posts to convey my opinion on Halo 5 so people can tell me how is it the game is the way it is now. Backstory, is I am a long time Halo fan and after reach released on PC I wanted to go through all the previous installments and see how they have matured. Got to Halo 5 and my mind was blown away with how bad the game feels to me compared to all the others in regards to MP.

This one is about the matchmaking and why is there so many playlists still in a game that certainly feels dead but has an ok playerbase in regards to numbers. Spent several minutes in different lobbies throughout various times in the day only to never get qued in certain playlists. The social list is more balanced with numbers and I find it takes a lot less longer to que a match versus ranked. In ranked, some playlists you will never get matched, I haven’t at least. Mythic playlist is AMAZING and probably the only gamemode I will play in the future. Because it is the only gamemode that makes me feel like I am playing a HALO game in Halo 5.

Last thing I have noticed, WHY is there no solo q ranked playlists? I am almost certain more people would q and play ranked if they weren’t facing teams of 3-4 in most games. I understand the argument of getting a team and play with friends. Not all friends are on at the same time would be my response and sometimes we all just want to que solo from time to time. This argument got brought up so much in D2 that Bungie finally saw our point of view through Summits and feedback posts and added solo competitive que. The amount of people who now que PvP has grown substantially since it’s implementation in that game (I’m only using as an example, I know this is not Destiny). My suggestion would be to add a solo que and to balance teams MUCH better. Example 4v4, 4 randoms (1 silver, 2 gold, 1 diamond) vs group of 3 with one random (1Champion, 1 onyx, 1 diamond, rando placement) is not balanced and leads to people getting discouraged in a match and ultimately no longer ques. These are just my opinions and feel free to correct me if I am wrong in some areas, take care Spartans.

I simply cannot get into a game at all, mainly in Halo 5. I havent played it for a while so whether it has something to do with my level or something. Annoying as hell though.

For what it’s worth guys the population of H5 has been consistently dropping ever since the tournaments rapped up in 2018. Add in Halo MCC being improved and the advertising around reach and there’s different members of the Halo community even being split right now. Due to the population drop your going to have trouble finding matches at certain times of the day (and depending on where you live), and getting matches with more fair lobbies. Even when you put the connection to focused it will bump it out to balanced and then expanded before it times out trying to find you a match. Once you get to expanded you are pretty much going with further offering for connection quality and fair lobbies.

When it comes to choosing fair lobbies there are so many considerations behind the scenes. Your MMR, CSR, and how many people are partied up together. From my own anecdotal experience if you’re a party of for it seems to try to find another party of 4, then a 3-1, then a 2-2, and then a timeout if none of those options were found. Additionally don’t hold too much to the CSR (diamond/onyx/champ). There aren’t even 200 champions in Team Arena and the season has been active for… what? 2 weeks? That’s unheard of. It really drives home the point of the population being low.
