Why was my thread moved?
Wondering why your thread was moved? Well hopefully this post can provide you with some clarification and reasoning behind the recent reorganization.
With all the traffic going on in the Halo 4 forums, the moderation and administration team has come to the decision that other forums need to be utilized while still continuing the various conversations about Halo 4. The Matchmaking section is now being used for ONLY matchmaking-related topics dealing with Halo 4, the current Halo installment. For matchmaking threads dealing with any other Halo installment, please post in the respective game forum.
Below are some examples of what should be posted in both the Matchmaking and Halo 4 forum sections.
What topics belong in the Matchmaking section
- Playlist discussion
- Multiplayer map discussion
- Game type discussion
- Game mechanics discussion
- Title Update discussion
- Ban discussion
- Sandbox balancing discussion
- Join in progress discussion
- Regional filters discussion
- TrueSkill discussion
- CSR discussion
What topics belong in the Halo 4 section
- Campaign discussion
- Spartan Ops discussion
- Custom games discussion
- Storyline discussion
- Soundtrack discussion
- Armor discussion
- Loadouts discussion
- Daily/Weekly challenge discussion
Please note this list is subject to change based on how it functions. The purpose of this is to filter some of the Halo 4 discussion so people have the chance to discuss multiple aspects of Halo 4. As always, if you have any questions relating to what to post and where, please feel free to message any moderator or post in this thread. Thanks!
I think these threads were better in the Halo 4 forum, at least someone looked at them then.
There’s not that much to talk about on H4 other than Matchmaking now. Campaign/Storyline has been and gone, it’s almost all about matchmaking, I would vote for reversing this decision.

As more and more threads are moved to MM and discussions happen in here, more people will frequent and visit this section. Before Halo 4 launched, Reach wasn’t a very popular section, most of the action took place in MM.
Just because YOU don’t feel the need to discuss campaign and/or story/plot lines doesn’t mean others wouldn’t like the chance. As it stands now, any threads along those lines were getting buried under the myriad of complaint and MM threads with little to no chance for discussion. We’re trying to bring a little order to the chaos of the forums. It won’t happen right away but we’re hopeful that over time we’ll have some organized insanity.

Wait what? Lol… Yeah let’s talk about campaign, Spops and other random Halo 4 stuff in the matchmaking section but let us talk about matchmaking issues in the General Halo 4 section! No… I think not.

THIS, thank you guys.

No problem! We are just trying to allow everyone have the chance to discuss anything Halo 4 related. For everyone who still has problems with Halo 4 matchmaking, we want their concerns to be heard and vocalized. The only difference now is they can continue this conversation in another forum so now there are two forums discussing Halo 4 but just different aspects of the game. Having all of these discussions in one forum got overwhelming and threads got killed off very quickly. Hopefully this will allow people to have more discussions for a longer period of time. If you guys have any questions about where something should go, please feel free to ask the moderation team. Also if you have any suggestions, please feel free to leave them here.
Maybe the header entitled “Halo 4” in the forum section shouldn’t have the caption underneath entitled “Discuss all things Halo 4”. It is a clear diversionary tactic with the aim of indirect censorship of people’s complaints with regards to this game. Maybe this caption needs to be changed to “Discuss all things Halo 4 EXCEPT multiplayer”. What do you guys think?

We’re simply trying to give more room for all topics to be discussed regarding Halo 4. Comments about the multiplayer definitely aren’t being censored when they are simply redirected to the matchmaking forum where it is still open for the members to read and participate in are they?
Diversionary tactics?
Heh, no…just trying to keep things organized.
Why people would have a problem with this kinda blows my mind, especially since 343 are more likely to read the matchmaking section. To say this is a censorship tactic is to say 343 only reads the general section, which is wild logic.
People just like to… say things on the internet. Nobody actually wants to have a conversation anymore, let alone thinking about something before writing it.
But yeah, this is a good move. I’d run my forum the same way.

If you’re trying to give more room for all the topics then completely remove the Halo 4 “Discuss all things Halo 4” topic and add topics such as campaign, special ops, ect. Their is no reason to be moving threads from that topic and senseless because people who come to this waypoint will automatically go to that topic because it has more discussion, More things that are “ALLOWED” in that topic, and its the general halo 4 topic that sates you can discuss all things.
I just want to add that people continue to post in the Halo 4 section. For example: people want to discuss a DMR nerf but find no such topic in the recent Halo 4 discussion so they make their own.
Your solution, rightly so under this system, is to move that discussion to MM. But what happens when the next Halo 4 forum goer does the same thing?
I think the calls for making a stronger distinction between the forums is well founded. MM now is constantly filled with locked threads and repetitive topics, both with a small amount of comments.
Halo 4 forum goers, since the story and spops are done as another commenter rightly pointed out, are now flooded with either Halo 5 wish lists, or unspecific Halo 4 hate, because all the constructive and specific posts are moved to MM.
This is fine. I don’t mind that they are moved, even if my playlist poll gets a quarter of the voters it would get in the Halo 4 forum, as long as a clear distiction is made between the forums. The commenter above me has it exactly right.
Right now the way it is laid out is not helping either community. The posts in MM get no attention and the forum goers in Halo 4 are flooded with general and negative hate thread rather than productive topic. Every topic besides “rate the armor above” has started to devolve into a Halo 4 population debate. Half the topics are “I hate halo so much” and the other half are “I hate halo haters so much.”
The current system really isn’t conducive to the community or to maintaining a positive atmosphere, which I hope is your goal.
Thank you.
p.s. if you are going to move threads, please make it as consistent as possible. I’m sure you do your best, but when one of my threads gets moved I feel like there is always at least one thread that wasn’t moved but could have been under your guidelines.

If you see a thread that needs to be moved, then report the OP and state, in the report text, what section the thread should go to.
The OP won’t be penalized if you do this (unless they broke some other rule in their posts). “Report” isn’t just for rule violations; it’s also good for alerting us to maintenance matters like this.
