Matchmaking was better before the update

This had probably been done to death but it’s so frustrating.

I live in North Europe, which I would imaging would be one of the most populated servers and I can barely ever find a game. The only ones I’m getting right now is social slayer. I can understand there’s reasons why it’s region locked such as what the separate games engines can handle being sent over Xbox Live but I never really had a problem with lag and prior to this update I almost always got games quickly.

For people outside of America the update seems to have just made things worse. But it also affects how people view Halo 6, MCC is a good place to start for people new to the franchise especially now that it’s on the game pass. But when they log in online and can barely ever find a game, that’s not going to encourage them to pick up Halo 6 when that comes out. I feel like having a laggy game every now and then was worth it so that everyone could get online or at least let Americans set the search perimeters to “good connection” that way people who aren’t too bothered by the lag once in every couple of a dozen games can actually find a game now instead of not being able to play it entirely.

Been excited for this update but it would have been good to know that they were gonna make it region locked so that way I could know before hand that playing online would be almost unplayable again like it was when it first launched. That way people in Europe, Australia and New Zealand didn’t have to get excited for over a year.

So is it going to stay region locked or is this just for the first few months?

Just realised I posted this in the halo infinite forum, awkward

There are active threads on this topic already in the MCC section. Also 343i is planning further updates to help regions outside the Americas find games easier.
