Wasn’t this supposed to be fixed in the mid-season update? Before this event I was getting matches with good ping, like 32 ms, but now every match has a ping of 120-250 ms.
(No, DogMeat1986, this is not my internet’s fault, I have fiber now
)
Going by my experience this week and especially today: it depends on the playlist and the region a lot. I would like for them to wait longer before throwing me in a high ping game.
Anyway, here’s my experiences today (central EU):
Team Slayer Playlist: majority of games at 100ms+ - one game at 30 ms
Fiesta Playlist: majority of games at 30 ms - one game at 100ms+
I have never seen any games above 130 ms though (like ever). But I guess that’s due to the “bad” US servers being 128 ms or something like that for me.
What continent on your on? This seems to be primarily happening with European players right now.
Ruling out internet doesn’t mean much.
Could be hardware too. Ran into an issue a while back with packet loss, replaced the router, installed a new Ethernet port, turned out to be a single wire that was frayed within the plug of the Ethernet Jack.
Had another problem on a different pc where the Jack itself had a fried lead that was still conductive.
Not saying this is your issue, just that sometimes it’s not always on the game’s end.
That’s because less and less people are playing every day and the servers are struggling to find people.
The game is currently just behind Minecraft/Rocketleague and just in front of GTAO at its most popular standing. Those games aren’t exactly lacking in population metrics.
Bit of a stretch to suggest an overall lack of population is the problem when the MCC which sustains a far lower population size without similar complaints.
How many people per day are concurrent players vs people downloading to try the game? As Xbox Series X|S become more readily available throughout the world it wouldn’t surprise me if people download the game and give it a try. What matters is how many people come back.
I’m not sure where you’ve gotten your number but I highly doubt the concurrent player population is as high as you say. My reason for believing this is I constantly match with the same people daily. No matter the playlist. I come across the same people all the time.
I’m not sure exactly, but I find it difficult to believe the “Most Played Games” chart pertains only to downloads.
Or that picking it up for a few games and putting it down could sustain a position on a chart next to some unquestionably heavy hitters.
I didn’t give a number, as there isn’t a population number outside of Steam’s figure which is 10k. But by those metrics, GTA O was at 117k, and Rocket League hit 43k, with Minecraft averaging a couple mil through various figures.
Its current standing is 15/50 on Microsoft’s “Most Played Games” chart. With Minecraft at 13/50, Rocket League at 14/50, and GTA O at 16/50.
Steam:
- (Minecraft: 1.6-3.5mil, general population spread, no specific platform)
-
GTA O: 117k
-
Rocket League: 43k
-
Halo Infinite: 10k
Microsoft:
-
Minecraft (1.6mil-3.5mil, general population spread no specific platform)
-
Rocket League (43k Steam)
-
Halo Infinite (10k Steam)
-
GTA O (117k Steam)
I mean we don’t know the population numbers according to Microsoft, but the standings do seem to tell a different story through their platforms. It’s not difficult to refute that the idea that there isn’t a current sustainable population.
Population drops (globally)
Each none US country must now ping a US server to avoid geofiltering- prior to finding a game.
Pinging a US server ensures US player population is maintained while giving none US players poor ping games.
As the player population continues to drop this, this trend worsens.
I’m pretty sure that’s most played games overall. We know Infinite had a huge opening but those games on that list aren’t reflective of current players. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 isn’t number two because it’s currently the most played CoD.
Well yeah lol, that’s the point I’m making.
I find it hard to believe this is the case, the list fluctuates and rearranges fairly frequently. Apex was much lower about a month ago.
Why doesn’t that make sense?
Being “the most played CoD” would suggest it should hold a prestigious place on the charts, and seeing that MW is synonymous with Warzone it makes perfect sense that it would be higher up on the charts. Also, it was number 4 at one point, going back to the point I made about Apex and the dynamic nature of that specific chart.
I’m in Europe. My router is pretty good, I don’t have such issues in other games.
True Warzone is technically a playlist of MW2019 so it’s possible. But I’m still not convinced at all. It’s getting harder to find game. Search times are increasing and I live on the West Coast so I know there is no shortage of people.
I’ve been having high ping games as well, for seemingly no reason. US based (only one state away from Washington) and 2 gig internet (Xbox is hard wired) - never seen ping lower than 55+, and lots of games with 100+ ping. Fortnite has better ping when I’m wireless, in my basement (yes, I tested this). Not sure what the issue is with Infinite.
Very interesting that US players are experiencing high ping which suggests that it’s not solely an issue for EU players. May be they are intentionally making it a terrible experience for everyone.
I’m not sure what it looks like on Xbox (assuming MW and Warzone are synonymous), but the only way to access MW on PC is through the “Warzone” option on Battle.net.
I try not to delve into semantics, but it truly doesn’t matter how you access the Warzone option, it’s under the same banner no matter how you look at it.
Second largest city in Indiana, so a far cry from the population densities of the West Coast. What’s your average wait time for a game? I honestly haven’t noticed a lull in matchmaking times since installing the game when it released in November.
Most posts I’ve seen recently have been outside of the US. Probably about a 2:1/3:1 ratio.
Anywhere from thirty seconds up to three or four minutes. Depends on time of day and which day it is. Mondays I notice a major slowdown in search times.
What’s strange is I played a game earlier today where I had 80 ping. A teammate of mine had 70 and lived in Canada, another teammate lived on the east coast, and the last person lived in Texas. We all had 70-90 ping to the server. So I honestly have no clue which server we connected to. But one of us should have had less then 70.
That’s not even the worst. Last week I can consistently get below 100ms matches. This week man 96% matches are over 220 ms ping which is unbearable. And the matchmaking time is only around 20 seconds, heck I’d rather wait 5 mins than have to play like that.
Many people say “ItS yOUr RegioN no One iS plaYing”, No. It is the matchmaking, it doesn’t prioritize my region just throwing me in to whatever match possible, last week there were less people but it wasn’t like that.
