Hello! Sorry if this has been discussed already but I just picked up Halo 4 the other day and have a quick question.
I haven’t played Halo since H2 when there was the social/unranked modes. Part of what I loved was playing split-screen with friends while on XBL. Now with H4 I’m concerned that I’ll rank up and get more challenging match-ups and then when I get online with guests that don’t regularly play, they’ll get smoked and will have a miserable time.
So I haven’t seen an unranked mode or anything in the game. Anybody know if this might be coming? Or if the ranking system gives you easier match ups with unranked guests?

Shameless bump! Anybody have any info? I’m having a hard time finding anything on this
we are getting ranks sometime early next year, so maybe that will warrant a social/rank split. Until thats implemented though your guests are just goin to have to get smacked around a bit

wait so there’s no rank system in place right now? so how is it determine who to match you up against? just random?

I was wondering the same thing. There appears to be some sort of system in place right now behind-the-scenes that tries to match you up with people at least in your ballpark of skill.
I played in a party with some newer H4 players yesterday and the opponents were a lot easier than those I regularly face when going into matchmaking by myself.
