Is there an option to search for a good connection in matchmaking like there has been in previous Halo games? If not, this is something that needs to be implemented… I can’t enjoy laggy matches that are the result of having been paired with people from overseas!

Nope. Halo 4 was designed solely to be played Americans. The game will be dead in Australia in about 2 months.
Good luck on getting them to implement the option in a future patch though. I can’t think of a single game where they managed to do that.

Your pessimism distrubs me.
In halo 2 you could set your matchmaking preferences to “good connections” and “my language only” which was a good way for someone to avoid the lag of multinational game play. It took an extra 2 or 3 minutes to find a match but the experience was much more enjoyable.
But halo 2 was the pinnacle of the series and halo 4 just another step on its continuing devolutioary ladder. So it’s understandable that anything that could possibly improve game play be dismissed from consideration.
