Alright so I’m making this thread to revive the idea of adding a matchmaking preference based on the size of a fireteam in matchmaking. Several threads have been made on this topic before, but I just decided to bring up the idea again because I’ve noticed its presence going down a bit. Many players, including myself, are frustrated with being matched against partied-up fireteams while we’re playing solo with randoms. And before anyone says “bruh just find some friends!” or “git gud” or whatever let me just say that I can’t always play with a fireteam, and sometimes I just prefer to play on my own. I’m not trying to discourage teamwork, but games where one team is partied up and the other is full of randoms are usually so one-sided. This proposed matchmaking preference would fix this, matching playeres according to fireteam size, so games of randoms with randoms, and fireteams with fireteams. So if youre playing with one friend, then the game would try and match you with another group of two on the other team.

I like this idea, although it really should be the default setup for matchmaking.
Kind of unrelated but relates to searching for games - I’d LOVE the ability to opt out of join-in-progress games. Either be granted the option to turn them on/off when you reach a certain SR, or do it like Call of Duty does it. If you are forced into a JIP game, if you play that game until the end, you will be in that lobby for good and will not be given another JIP so long as you stay in that lobby.
Something needs to happen. I’ve been getting matched with mostly diamond+ players lately (I’m plat) on balanced search preference. I changed to focused and nearly all my games are JIP. I’m referring mainly to WZ as I haven’t played any arena yet this season. I know the restrictions are looser in social types but being a platinum player constantly running into diamond, onyx and even champs is not at all fun.
