I’ve started to really get into Halo now; I was stumped by the terrible release. One big thing I notice between all of the og Halo’s matchmaking versus the MCC is everyone had mics, there was trash talk, there were people talking and making friends. Yet now when I play Halo its like a barren wasteland, no one talks at all, and honestly it kinda sucks, I dont see why people stopped talking. It became more like Call of Duty to where no one talks at all, and it’s kinda messed up. It kind of angers me to see that no one talks anymore. Why does no one talk?!?
Depends really. I find that more people play with microphones in HCS, Team Hardcore, and Team Halo 2 Anniversary. But yes, back in 2004 when Halo 2 came out, everyone had mic’s in matchmaking. But for me Party chat is where it’s at really.
id rather not have to continue to wade through the 10 year olds screaming racist, sexist, homophobic remarks. if they all want to not talk thats awesome, lets keep it that way.
also what happened to that short moment where you could hear the person that just killed you? It used to be so satisfying knowning that the other person heard your bragging rights

I say get rid of party chat on ranked that way there is more use of mics. I would say get rid of it on social as well but many of you would start crying.

I miss coordinating over mics if I do not have a full party, and its not just MCC. Whenever I play any game on live now it seems I may get one or two people total in the whole match that have mics on, and even then they won’t always end up on the same team.
op is absolutely right about no one speaking anymore. i’ve complained about this on various other forums, might as well do it here. there’s really no question about why it is, though:

you know what i actually miss hearing that 10 year old tell me how he slept with my mother. Trash talk was always part of the fun for me, part of why i enjoy playing pc games, people there still have mics.
I’ve always wanted to find new people to play Halo with. Most of my close friends in real life moved on from gaming in general, mostly Xbox Live. We always played Halo. I was always one to just enjoy the game with others who were in the same boat that I can chat with. If anyone wants to play Halo and chat, feel free to add me. I definitely miss the big custom games in Halo 3 with all random people!

Still broken. They need to enable it on both sides and not just on teams. Sometimes you can hear someone, but it’s in and out. It’s extremely frustrating
