Say you just finished a match of Team Slayer. It was your first match of the day, and it was pretty balanced. The game was close, so the matchmaking did well. Now some players are leaving, and only 3 remain, not including yourself: a Captain, a Warrant Officer, and a guest account. Four more players were found. Their ranks are Hero, Inheritor, General, and Field Marshal.
Those 4 players who just joined in are now all on one team, while the remaining players from the last game are on one team. The match seems unbalanced before it even starts. The map is voted and the match starts. Within the first 30-40 seconds, you’re losing 9-1. The game host quits and the game spazzes out. You decide you’re not going on wait on a clearly unbalanced game, so you dashboard.
Do you see what the problem is, here? The game completely ignores the ranks of the players and puts all the newcomers on one team: the one that isn’t yours. They’re all randoms, too, none of them are in a party, but the game still does not even attempt to balance the teams. It’s like the game is punishing you for staying with the previous game’s people. I know this is a social playlist, but that doesn’t mean there always has to be one team that steamrolls the other.
I’ve heard 343 is still doing some maintenance for this game, so please fix this problem. Divide players into teams judging by their rank, make sure the ranks on either team are balanced. I’m a pretty good player, but I can’t always carry my worthless team and I definitely can’t hold my own against 4 people of similar skill to mine. Please fix this, It’s really -Yoink!- me off. Peace.

Remember that high-ranked guys can be in a group, so, it doesn’t matter, they will be in the same team regardless if there’s 4 or 6 recruits on the lobby.

That’s my point. They are almost never in a group.
Would you rather wait an hour until the game matched you with people of equal skill? Look at the amount of players currently in game. It’s just not going to happen the way you want it.

I’m not asking to find people of equal skill to mine, I’m asking that they take the randoms collected and sort them out so they’re fairly balanced. If there’s two low ranking players, put one on one team and one on the other. Same with high ranking players, so each team can have an equal mix of low and high ranking players, thus balancing the game without worrying about population. Not counting parties.
I have this problem a lot. I usually solo queue since not many of my friends play Halo anymore, I think the big reason why I get into so many unbalanced games is simply because not as many people play Reach as much anymore. I can assume the average population hovers around 15k-ish. I usually play Slayer and SWAT, I tend to see the same players every other match, if not the following match.

At this point it’s more like 5k at peak times with about 1/4 of that number actually in matchmaking playlists
Halo Reach doesn’t use any form of competitive system to my knowledge (correct me if you like) so these things can happen, more-so with a lower population count and more dedicated community members.
To my knowledge, only Arena had any form of ‘competitive’ element to it. I’m not saying that playlists are not competitive, I am simply referring to Halo’s ranking system i.e 1-50 placed you based on your skill bracket.
Still I understand your frustration. I do manage to top frag consistently even if my team quits but it is beyond annoying if the other team knows how to spawn trap you.
