I just checked the game you’re talking about, and it seems to me that you were up against Diamonds and Platinums. Since you were against Diamonds and Platinums, it’s completely normal for your teammate to be a Platinum. The Platinum 2 on your team went 2 and 7, not 0 and 18. (That is, if the game I linked is the one you’re referring to.) You want a closer match? Try searching with the Focused preference.
As for the unranked issue you brought up, the reason why you match up against Diamonds and Onyxes is because your rank is never really gone at the end of each season; it’s just hidden and it’s called MMR. Since you were a Diamond 2 in Slayer last season, you were still a Diamond in your placement matches this season. I don’t even know why you’re complaining, as you became an Onyx in Slayer this season thanks to the Halo 5 ranking system.
