- What is the deal with matchmaking? I can appreciate that there are a lot of good players out there, and good on them, i however am a casual player who doesnt have time to grind this game out everyday. Im a comfortable diamond rank and im good right where i am. That said, its pretty damn annoying when i get matched up every damn game against ONXY players. It goes about how you might expect. I bet its fun as hell for them but i cant say that since ive been a diamond ive played many gold ranks. Probably a reason for that. It pretty much makes me shut the damn game off. Its been 5 years. Can you get this under control or what? I mean, its almost EVERY game!

The playerbase for Halo 5 is much smaller than it used to be. This means Ranked Arena matches will likely be less evenly matched than they have been in the past.
For the most part a lot of the very skilled Halo 5 players still play. You are very likely to get matched with them if you’re in the Diamond skill bracket. The only way around this would be to be in a lower skill bracket.
This is one of the reasons I no longer play Ranked Arena. I can’t be bothered to deal with the 24/7 intensity, sometimes you just want to chill out and play.
Yea, i tried going to social and it was the same. I understand there isnt as big of a player base but damn. I know there are still plenty of ranks under ONYX. Ive seen it. Just makes it not much fun. I was really looking forward to Infinite to come out this year. Dont think im staying with H5 another year. Not worth it.

You’re not likely to get matched with anyone under a diamond rank, that’s just not how it works.
As for Social, even that is a sweet fest. Trying to get a relaxed game on Halo 5 is virtually impossible for any player with a decent MMR.
I’m personally sitting tight til Infinite. I love Halo 5 but at the minute playing without a team just isn’t fun for me anymore.
You may have better luck in solo/duo que arena for a few reasons. You can’t play against a team of four, more people seem to be playing it (making the skills gaps not quite as large), and you have a better chance of a skilled player being on your team vs. in team arena or slayer where youre going up against (more than likely) a team

Don’t think I’ll be grinding much H5 for the next year either. Super Fiesta is my favorite, but when 70% of the matches are Husky Raid, I end up switching to the MCC after 3 or 4 games.
I find that the match making is streaky where I either do well playing with other plats for a few in a row then I struggle for a few in row when I get matched with diamonds and onyx. Which I believe is exactly how the mmr system should work. Rarely do I have more than 3 sweat try hard games in a row or 3 easy peasy games in a row. Which is probably why the average player like me will hover around a 50% win rate and a 1.15 KD in ranked slayer.
Story or our lives bro you aren’t alone. I’ve been onyx once in this game back when it barely came out. There was something called a pre season. So basically it didn’t count…now I get up to daimond…and the matches are just so frustrating sometimes. If it isn’t lag, heavy aim, ghost melee, it’s facing players too high up paired with a smurf acct or a deranker used to get easy matches for them. I come to waypoint out of curiosity…to look at their ranks and sometimes I find they’ve even been champion…
I don’t get it either. Quick play is even worse…solo Q isn’t any better either…we just gotta deal with it…and hope it doesn’t make us hate halo I guess…
100% feel your pain. And having a party member fail to join in between literally every 3rd match is mind-boggling, especially when the lobby isn’t even full when loading into the match. People debate SBMM vs OEMM; heck just having Fully Functioning Matchmaking would be nice haha.
