Someone from 343 needs to explain to me how it’s fair that I repeatedly get matched up against teams with higher ranks. It’s becoming so stupid to the point where I want to quit.

Matchmaking in ranked is also influenced by social playlists. I’m assuming they are removing that which is why they are doing a mid season ranked reset soon.

I literally just got a ranking after the 9 or 10 games you have to play, however I am disappointed that I have to play slayer, CTF, oddball, etc.
Can we have ranked matches like halo 2 again? team slayer, FFA ranked, CTF ranked or even steal from COD’s playlist selection, so maybe teams want to play only CTF and team slayer?

The game usually balances by team, so check Halotracker and you can see if teams were seen as unbalanced or not if there’s is a % likely to win top right when you click on a game.
If no % shows the game is deemed to be 50/50 either team could win.
I don’t believe the numbers for a second. That’s why I say the system is crap. According to what you’re saying I game my team lost 50-31 was a 50/50 split. I went 9-9. My teammates were 9-13, 9-16 and 4-12. So by that logic all three of my teammates “just happened” to have a terrible game. That’s nonsense.

When the team fails, the team fails.
On paper it was an even match. Sometimes the players don’t compliment each other like they should and the enemy team works better that game. Just because both teams were predicted to have an equal chance to win doesn’t mean the game will always be super close.
Some games just start falling out of your control and players end up doing worse because of it.

Or maybe it’s because there was an Onyx on the other team that at I shouldn’t be playing against in Diamond. Their predictive model is terrible. Just put me against other Diamond people my level. It’s not complicated.

Exactly, you shouldn’t face opponents higher than your rank, if someone hasnt proven to be that good yet cause theyre only diamond why would they match against someone that high? 1 person to high or too low makes a all the difference and it becomes a sweaty game for one team while very easy for the other and in ranked it shouldnt be that way unless one of the diamonds plays like an onyx who has yet to make it up there. I still dont get whats so bad about letting all diamonds duke it out and see whos the best diamonds and move up or down, let the onyx 1500 fight against each other etc, in h5 they said the games population was too low and teams had to be unbalanced but its the same thing here so i dont think even they understand or they dont want to fully come out and say " we know its broken but its all we have".

Because your MMR is different than what the game shows you visually. If you play well, your hidden rating goes up and they match you accordingly. ELO works in that it puts you in a game that it expects you to win based on past performances. Its not always a 50/50 scenario.
What’s the point of a hidden rating? Why punish me for having a good game? If I play people the same rank as me and move up then I’ll eventually play against better people. It seems silly to say oh that person had a good game or two so we will match them up against people way better.
I want to play people my rank. I don’t know why people would want otherwise.
A Diamond 6 can be closer in rank to Onyx then they are to Diamond 1.
If you want the old 1 to 50 scale. You are a 40. They are a 41.

Or if you want to go back to Halo 3 you are both 50.
Unless match-making has enough options to make everyone on both team the exact same rank - somebody has to be on the bottom of the food chain.
Besides… it those games vs slightly better teams that give you the chance to improve and rank up.

I see different people every single day of diamond 5 and 6 ranks, plus it does place those kind of matches VERY rarely, but , if all games were fair with diamonds 5 and 6s against each other that would be the appropriate sweaty game, the losing teams worst player would know at the end of the game that he deserves to be there because all the same ranked players did better, now there is no excucse to say " they had an onyx wtf". When that player stays stuck in diamond 6, keep placing him in those same ranked matches, which is even better for practice because that way he wont be getting crapped on by high onyx, barely being able to move, getting even lower ranked team mates who just quit due to unbalanced team, on top of the so called hidden mmr assuming your bad because you cant out skill a 1750 onyx, and not gaining any real improvement, but frustration and rants on halo forums.
If it’s a 50/50 game and they have an Onyx 1750, your team has that equivalent. Either one of your players has a really high MMR or your entire team is better than that Onyx players teammates.
I guess thats why i get 3 v4 games against 4 onyxes im diamond 6 and i had 2 onyx in my team, we still got crapped on and they stopped playing? its the same thing i guess lmao
Either way people on these forums, in game chat, youtube, twtich and pro players say the exact same thing about the unbalanced issue in mm so i highly doubt youre convincing anyone by saying " ranks dont matter hidden mmr matters and they were equivalent teams.
Wait, playing ranked match making and getting upset over losing? Search with a team or play passive chill non ranked playlists. Communication is key to the success of Halo and winning games. OR play FFA.

im not even complaining honestly, just speaking facts about my halo experience and noticed many people like the original poster have as well. the only people i see who get upset are a few who attempt to explain how mm works and after a while start to resort to personal attacks which is funny to me anyway. Also thats a horrible comparison, a diamond 5 against a diamond 6 is not the same as a diamond 6 against onyx 1600+.
