I play on xbox and primarily im in solo/duo ranked and quick play. I use to just play quick play because I’m a casual player and just want to hop on and enjoy a few matches then hop off. But what I found in quick play was that I was constantly going against sweaty players any time I would get on whether its in the morning, afternoon, or evening, weekend or weekday. Players on my team in quick play would often neglect the objective as well. So I transitioned to playing ranked because I found that play was actually more casual and at least my teammates would try. But then I got ranked gold 6 and now I’m consistently being stuck in matches with platinum and diamond players and occasionally other gold or unranked players. What I have encountered during my experience in ranked solo/duo is that the teams are always slanted. It doesn’t matter if I have a great game or a bad game. each match is just as slanted as the last. This is true at any time of the day, weekend or weekday. What I’d like is to just hop on and play the game, give a legitimate effort towards a win, and have teammates that are going to try and help me in that endeavor. What halo infinite multiplayer actually provides is a dismal matchmaking system where regardless of the playlist or game mode that I choose I am paired up with teammates who either don’t care or teammates who do care and are out classed, which makes the game completely un-enjoyable. There are many things wrong with this game, and I know there has been plenty of feedback regarding lack of content, playlists, etc but the thing that has really stuck out to me is this truly amazingly awful matchmaking system. Whatever the algorithm may be, its doing a really bad job.
You can thank the poor implementation of the SBMM system they put into place for social for that, there are times I honestly feel like I’m playing Cod because the balancing feels so similar to that game it’s not even funny, at lest to me. I’m in the same boat though, I just want to relax and just play Halo but I get the same issue you do. I’ll have maybe 1 or 2 good games, and then after that it’s a sweat fest. This isn’t even specifically a Halo issue but I don’t understand how companies years ago had MM balanced better for social but modern companies can’t seem to get it right. I think the only modern game I can think of where it can truly be social is Battlefront 2. There are probably a couple more I just can’t think of any right now, maybe Titanfall 2 but I honestly can’t remember.
Heck Halo 5 was still a sweaty game social wise, but it at lest gave an option for search preferences if you wanted more balanced matches, better connection based matches, or more open matches skill wise. If they searched more on connection based rather than skill based I think it would be way better (it also would maybe help with all the desync issues in the game as well atm). Halo 3 even had this system.
ranked is ranked for a reason. there’s plenty of other casual modes to play, the whole point of them is to be casual. of course you will find casuals in there. do you know what casual means?. by running into ranked you are ASKING to play a competitive mode. you can’t queue in RANKED ARENA and then get upset when competitive players bite you in the bud. there are vastly more high ranked players than low ranked players. play at your own risk or don’t play at all.
You seem to only read the bottom half of my post or maybe you just didn’t process the first portion. I use to exclusively play quick play. Its a sweat-fest with teammates who either don’t care or who are outmatched. Ranked is the same. It doesn’t matter which I choose. That’s my experience and I’m sharing that with the developer. Nothing about your post is constructive in anyway but thanks for chiming in.
You’re absolutely right. The game is totally drenched in sweat. And players, myself included have brought it up. A Youtuber went so far as to say he didn’t see that there was anything here for a casual player.
It’s the elephant in the room that really isn’t getting talked about much though. Map design in 4 v4 playlists is strictly esports stuff. Matchmaking seems to have some funny business going on too. Not sure if it’s their algorithm or people gaming the system.
I don’t know. It seems like everytime 343 ships a game they forget to put the fun in the box.
Omg I actually forget that you could choose your server in halo 5.an Halo 5 did a lot of things right and people don’t like to admit it
My issue with the social playlists is that if I queue solo that it is very sweaty…and probably even more so than ranked. It seems if I want to have some fun chilled social games then I have to wait until my friends come online to drag down the average SBMM of the lobby that we get placed in. Some would argue that is the point of social and I’m being social with my friends too, but when the game isn’t fun for solo players then my best option is to not play when no one else is online…but I want to be able to play and have fun whether I’m with friends or on my own.
In FFA I steam roll people and I don’t even mean to. I was champion player in FFA Halo 5 so when facing cuasals I know I’m ruining the game for them but I can’t do anything about it . I would have to dumb myself down but I ain’t trying to loose either
Only playlist I’ve seen with less sweatybois is BTB, but unfortunately its MIA.
I’ve noticed this issue in matchmaking as well. It seems like no matter what playlist you’re in it usually turns ultra competitive or you get steamrolled because you don’t have teammates that can help or pay attention. I frequently find myself just playing fiesta because it’s fun, random and nobody has any control.
I’m sorry but it’s hard to understand you with the sound of your own -Yoink!- in your mouth. So if you would like to stop sucking yourself off and actually contribute some form of constructive criticism that matters then feel free to do so.
Ummmmmm. Added in ranked playlists???
You got issues bro, speaking like that
I wouldn’t want you to intentionally lose playing against me or anyone for that matter. I believe that’s why the ranked playlist exists, right? It’s the space for competitive players but it doesn’t work like 343 had intended and that’s what I’m trying to point out and maybe they can address that.
100%, its a video game so its supposed to be about fun, but what I’ve experienced with halo infinite is there is some kid (or group of kids) in every lobby, regardless of playlist, playing like their pro gaming career depends on it. And its just not fun, period. I’d gladly go play whatever casual playlist where peeps just go to chill and have fun just show me where it exists in halo infinite and i’m there, but as far as I can tell it doesn’t.
I haven’t tried fiesta but I will maybe I can find some reprieve there.
i read your entire post and i still stand by what i said. it’s not anyone else’s fault that you’re bad at this game. what you want them to do, ban skilled players from the game they bought?
The problem is that some people define “fun” as being able to muck around with mates, racking up the K:D, streaming multi-kills, and pretty much winning the game without having to put much (if any) effort in.
That’s chill.
Damn be to the poor opponents who have to define “fun” as getting stomped a little less badly than their last game.
Good for you, dude. It’s normal that you come across a very good player from time to time BUT this happens in every single game for a lot of players.
Also, the chance that you and your team of randoms are put against a whole team is also very high, i think.
And since nobody seems to have a mic, you are kind of stuck with losing.
Social is supposed to be just that: Social!
Talk smack, meet “interesting” people and frag ‘em.
But with this game it’s a anonymous sweat-fest.
I purposely went waaaay negative in a couple of games yesterday, just by doing a whole lot of nothing and that got me in 3-4 lobbies where the games ended very close like 48-50 in slayer or whatever.
That for me is fun and OK!
We’ve lost but by a small margin.
So why can’t the game work like that all the time?
No you couldn’t choose it.
You could ask for a “focused” match BUT the game wanted to find players with similar skill as yours.
In EU, very often there weren’t enough onyx and diamond players because the Xbox one sold a lot less than the ps4 (and because halo 5 was a bad game imo) and you couldn’t get matched with low level players like a team of gold and silvers:
the game literally wanted you to sit there doing nothing but wait for 5-10 minutes everytime for “good” eu players and this is what killed the game for european players.
The other way to play quickly was to search on “expanded” and play against good American players with a 100+ ping disadvantage, obviously nobody wanted to play like this.
At least in infinite I can play social without any problems
Hello.
The Halo series has always been competitive even in social modes. It is a fast game in which winning a game involves a lot of effort but gives a lot of satisfaction when you win a game.
That sets it apart from all other games and that’s why Halo is Halo.
I have played thousands of games and I have met players of all kinds both in social and ranked. Most of the time everyone on the team knows what to do and how to do it.
Many are veteran players who know that the only way to win is to get involved and sweat for the 5 min of the game. And some others go to their things and the game doesn’t end well … and sometimes it does.
There is no “casual mode” in Halo, here you have to give everything to win!
To relax there are already other FPS out there …
The only thing that needs to be fixed is that 343 and Microsoft do what they can to give all players the same opportunities by improving the servers and the network code.
Thanks.
