I still want Matchmaking to be added to ODST’s firefight. I miss that engine and those maps, but I can’t really play it at its best without a plausible, practicle way to get teammates.
As fun as ODST’s FF was, no one really plays that game anymore, especially with Reach having a much better, customizable version that does include MM. You could change settings to replicate ODST’s as much as possible to play with friends in Custom FF if you so please.
I totally agree. I miss ODST’s FF, Bungie really messed up in not including a game-finder.
> I totally agree. I miss ODST’s FF, Bungie really messed up in not including a game-finder.
They didn’t because they knew most people wouldn’t use it after playing the game for a couple weeks and/or getting all the FF achievements. The lack of customization would’ve especially turned people off.

Reach’s FF better? Sighs, shakes head and walks away
OT: IDK if it’s possible.

Yes because customization > quality… totally.
How dumb to people have to be to NOT see through gimmicks like customization. The only game genre that should have it are RPGs. Nuff said.

Please, enlighten me on why ODST FF>Reach FF.

The overall sense of desperation was omnipresent, you have very limited human weapons and ammo, you had to conserve heavy weapons and lives as well as the amount of teamwork and coordination it took to survive? Beautiful. All of it was flawless. And all of it taken away with Reach’s FF.

Why does one have to be better than the other. They are both great, but different from each other. I personally love ODST FF, but I tired of playing it by myself. I love Reach FF, but I’ve started to miss the engine and maps of ODST. They are both great in their own way. One isn’t necessarily better than the other, it just comes down to personal opinion. Whick style do you personally like better.

Yes, exactly.

Isn’t it you in this very topic wants their own gimmicky way to play? Not the Reach way but the ODST way. A game mode considered gimmicky by many hardcore MP players at the time of its release. A game mode not unlike CoD’s Zombies or GoW’s Horde, popular game modes within their own respective games.
> The overall sense of desperation was omnipresent, you have very limited human weapons and ammo, you had to conserve heavy weapons and lives as well as the amount of teamwork and coordination it took to survive? Beautiful. .
Yes for the ODST’s, it was a similar yet different time. No jetpacks either (stupid not being a Bullfrog)

Now you just come off as trying to bait people into an argument.

Umm customization is not a way to play, its purely cosmetic and otherwise useless. I am what you would call a “hardcore MP player” and to me a Halo version of the survival type game-mode was FUN. Now FF was SUPPOSED to be like Zombies and Horde… whats it like in Reach? Right… that’s not survival.
Anyone want to play a game of ODST FF? I’ll set up a match.
> Anyone want to play a game of ODST FF? I’ll set up a match.
WIN!!!
I can’t at the moment, but thanks for the offer
To give a ‘kind’ response instead of arguing, Halo 3 ODST’s engine was an improve Halo 3 engine, which did not support Campaign Matchmaking, considering Firefight was built off the Campaign engine, adding Matchmaking support was impossible.

You can set up Reach’s Firefight in much the same way. You can turn off ammo crates, lower the damage you do, increase the difficulty of the AI by altering their rate of fire, accuracy, lower the amount of lives you have, and even set it up so that it’s mostly Brutes.
The only things missing are ODST"s signature Pistol and SMG, and the extra but not limited ammo for spawn weapons.
So if we can recreate and recapture all the desperation, teamwork and coordination via custom options…then what’s the problem?
I mean, if Reach’s Firefight offers the same “survival” aspect of ODST’s, alongside a plethora of customization options and matchmaking support…how can it not be better?

Sorry, but you can’t. Sure you can reduce your movement speed, jump height and health. But you can’t create weapon stockpiles, you can’t add buggers and brute choppers which were deadly in ODST, and you can’t make the AI patrol/hunt.
