Oddball in Team Arena
As we announced previously, we’ve integrated Oddball into Team Arena. This version of Oddball includes polish from community feedback as well as updates to the spawning so it is more customized for Oddball’s gameplay. Give it whirl and give us some more feedback.

TrueSkill2
We are still planning on switching Quick Play over to TrueSkill2 in the next week or two. We’re just being extra careful with the timing since it’s a completely new system that has a key influence on the matchmaker.

Hey Josh this might sound stupid but would be doing the list be easier to do by rank/social list by doing what your doing now? Like have the ranked playlist in order and then same for the social?

Glad to see Halo 3 Classic Throwback Playlist holding its own. Been having an awesome time playing it! Would love to see this be a permanent features playlist! I’ve been having the most fun playing halo ever since this playlist realeased!

So will we ever get the objective Super Fiesta variants in the playlist? I see them in custom games, but they aren’t in the playlist. Any reason?

Just extrapolate it out yourself if you want. It’s not hard.

If they’re not going to be their own playlists, they should at least be in Action Sack. Super Fiesta objective gametypes are lots of fun

Played against 4 pros as a diamond 2 with platinums on my team cot anarchy snipe drone elumnite and they told me that you -Yoinked!- up matchmaking

Because WZ is 12v12, the older skill method takes so long to find skills that they can often be incorrect.

TrueSkill2 finds skill so fast that overall everyone’s skill will be more accurately represented with TS2, meaning, at the least, better team balancing, and at mainstream hours better matchmaking.

Is there a list anywhere of what maps are available in what playlists? I’ve been playing lots of quick play lately and I’m wondering why I only ever seem to get Truth, Coliseum, and Plaza.

Because those are the only 3 maps in that list.

so for the past two weeks matchmaking has been very different. It seems that a majority of the matches were heavily uneven. This post is about the system’s inability to find “fair games” and whether anything is being done to fix it. I am going to define “fair” as a game that consists of similarly ranked players on both red and blue team. i.e. team blue: 4 diamonds & team red : 4 diamonds.

Before I continue let me share some information: I am currently a diamond 4, I have my search preference set to Balanced, and I solo queue (yes I understand it is disadvantageous to solo queue when playing team matches but thats besides the point).

I have matched against champion level players in a lot of my recent games (but i havnt matched with champions). I’m not disgruntled that I am playing against champion level players… What bothers me is the fact that I wasnt matched with the same caliber of player on my team.

Here are some examples from the last two weeks (im on the losing side for all of these matches):

Whats weird is that I had a 52% win percentage, in slayer specifically, and I’ve dropped down to 43.0% in less than one month. I always solo queue so it’s not like anyone was previously carrying me…I just want to know what has changed or what will change…

Reason you don’t have Champs on your team: You’re playing against parties so it can’t split the Champs up.

Reason you’re playing Champs: MMR is truncated at 3.0 in Slayer because very few players are above that skill level, so the Matchmaker sees Champs as being well within tolerance for Diamond.

If you ever played Halo 3, this is the same as a party of 50s matching some 40s. Not ideal, but happened.

EDIT: If you search Focused and match before 150s, you also won’t face full parties.

How is it that Team Arena has a higher population than HCS and I keep on matching up against the same people over and over- which by the way are CHAMPIONS?
