Have been playing reach on the 360 for a few weeks. Returned to halo 5 and matchmaking times are painfully slow compared to Reach. Is there some unusual problem going on right now or has halo 5 matchmaking always been this garbage? It is reminding me of my experience with the MCC. IDK how the old as heck Halo Reach has faster matchmaking times. It is an old game and the population is likely low. Is 343 just unable to make a functioning matchmaking system, or is something bad just going on today?

OP, if you haven’t played Halo 5 for a few weeks you probably aren’t aware that since February 343 activated Region Lock on EU servers.
Substantially now you are totally unable to match up with people overseas (the majority of halo community), limited to search for players exclusively inside Europe bounds.
If you play off peak hours it’s highly probable that simply not enough EU players are online in that particular moment, and from that come long search time and timeout messages “Unable to match”…
For almost 2 months players (like me) struggled on this forum (and on Reddit) to make 343 aware of this until yesterday: they finally answered us building a thread where you can report your experience making them able to gather some datas and find a proper solution.
