I have been meaning to reach out to be somebody regarding my continuous issues with matchmaking. There are a number of times, specifically in the morning hours, that I am unable to find a game in any of the Ranked playlists. And then I’m stuck playing a Social game, and since they don’t offer a slayer playlist I’m a stuck playing Skirmish to compensate. Sometimes it doesn’t even connect in Social playlists either. I find this to be pretty mind boggling, considering I have never had any issues with any playlist of Matchmaking in any of the previous Halo games. Even Halo 2. Could it be possible that there are truly so few people online that I can’t find a game to connect to? I find it hard to believe. I’m a loyal Halo fan, I love Halo 5, I would just like to be able to wake up and play some Slayer or Doubles. Thanks for hearing me out, please let me know thoughts, or if you experience similar issues. *My search results are on expanded.
There probably isn’t enough people online. Especially in the morning, everyone is going to school or work. If it isn’t a network issue try putting your search preference on “Expanded.”
Morning is probably when not a lot of people are playing. That’s why OP you can’t find any arena matches. Look on the bright side you could live in Australia where the halo population is practically non-existent. You would never get any matches lol.

I’ve been getting the opposite of what I should be getting.
In the morning to afternoon I can search on expanded only, little to no lag.
By the time people are out of work and school it drops in quality of connection to the servers. All search preferences were usable but the wait was long.
It’s interesting because it has gotten better since I posted that complaint, but even sometimes during the day I can sit there for 3-5 minutes looking for a game. I know I sound greedy but it just amazes me that the Halo population has shrunk so much. Such a great game.
