Matches?

Hi Spartans!
I am a new player in Halo 5. I would like to ask the Spartans more veterans …
What kind of match is the best for a rookie?

I would recommend Heroic warzone firefight at first to get used to aiming and game play. It’s also a good way to gain XP and RP to open packs and build your reqs… Remember open bronze packs till unlocks become scarce, then open silver packs till they refund two 1500 point req cards instead of unlocks then open golds till they refund two 3000 point cards. That is the fastest way to unlock everything and usually the fastest way to get the stuff you want unless you get lucky in the RNG req system. But other than that H5, and Halo in general has a steep learning curve compared to other FPSs. It takes a long time to get proficient at it.

Well, let me start off by asking you a question…

What is your more preferred weapon?

Close combat - Infection
Precision - SWAT or Slayer
Surprises - Breakout
XP and RP - Warzone
Ninjas and trickshots - Team Arena
Just tear it up - Team Skirmish

Anything else is up to you but before I became a semi pro, I played mostly Team Arena, SWAT, and Infection to gain skill before I started competitively.

Have a nice day!

Maybe Warzone?

semi pro ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Infection ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) gain skill ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) competitively ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) bronze ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Heroic WZFF, infection, and super fiesta. RP and XP quickly for the first, same with infection, and you’ll be able to get a feel for the req weapons on fiesta

infection is good to learn the basic mechanics.

I can only play Sundays, I’ve only played one day for only 2 hours and I’m already level 14.
Thanks for the advice buddy.

Ok, then probably some Team Arena will help you

War zone is more newb friendly, if you have never played the old Halo games you may actually enjoy it.

Ha!

Um, I mean… welcome, Spartan. You will find Halo 5 to be a very friendly place and a very forgiving game with a manageable skill curve and completely intuitive mechanics. Also matchmaking will be sure that you see the “fair and balanced” side of Halo. All your matches will be hard but honestly fought, close-scored, and fun, and all your teammates will be forthright, considerate, and encouraging, no matter what playlist you choose. Best of luck.

I wonder if he’s still a new Spartan? Anyway, if you haven’t been playing then try Warzone since you can get away with messing around and trying things out.

Slayer, although you’re arriving late to the Halo 5 game so there’s a chance you’ll still deal with sweaties. What I find is that most newcomers to the game prefer to play Team Slayer, because the objective and gameplay / strategies are simple - kill the other team. Most casuals will spend their time here as well. Skilled players in Team Slayer are effective at taking you down with a variety of weapons, so map dominance (aka, holding power weapons) will go a long way towards helping you out.

The more you play, the more you tend to prefer other gametypes, which require a higher degree of skill generally. Breakout, for example, requires solid communication, call-outs, and strategic gameplay (pulling the flag is an art, not something to do on a whim). CTF requires a great deal of awareness at what you and the rest of your team are doing, as well as where your flag, and there’s, are at all times (it’s my personal favorite gametype).

Stick with Team Slayer early on. Learn how to outsmart or outplay someone else at just killing one another. Then take that and use it to help you dominate other game modes. Another suggestion… someone mentioned Heroic WZ Firefight. I agree, but ultimately, those are AI, and not on the highest difficulty setting. A great way to improve your skill at the game is tackling the campaign on solo, legendary difficulty. Trial by fire. If you can get through those levels, you’ll learn to be smart about engagements, which weapons work, which don’t, and cautious gameplay. Plus, you’ll probably get skilled enough there to wreck lower-skilled players in matchmaking.
