Match xp problem

it rewards better players on a team too much. The problem is teams are often comprised of different skills. This means some people dont have a chance to get extra xp.

A more fair system would be, dont come last on your team. Basically dont be in the bottom 25% to get your reward. That way, everyone will feel like they have a chance all throughout the match. You dont want the people at the bottom to stop trying.

i guess you could still keep top 50% and mvp but those rewards should be much smaller compared to the “dont be in the bottom 25%.” They all add up anyway.

edit- To be clear, winning xp and match completion xp for everyone is fine.

I guess that’s why it’s “beta” - so they can change things up after collecting a bit of real world data.

From the screenshot you get 150 for finishing the match. And 50 for winning. So that should encourage people to play properly. 200XP for playing and winning.

The 50XP for finishing top 50% seems OK to me.

But you are right. Spreading the reward could be fairer / better? Maybe a different amount for top 25%, middle 50%, and bottom 25%.

yeah it should have a top 25% too. Player behaviour is the whole point of match xp so you need to incentivize everyone at all times. You dont want to be in a losing match and teammates stop trying because theyre also at the bottom of your team. Thats when people stop playing the game properly and chase challenges ignoring everything else. Some people who know theyve lost, still want to play the game properly but they also want all their teammates to keep playing properly so that gameplay is still fair.

Thought it was pretty quick before, was able to complete the Season 2 battle pass in a little over a month, with only putting in an hour or two a day. I ignored challenges out right and just played what I wanted to play too.,

I wonder if this allow me to finish 100 tier passes in under a month now.

I hope to eventually see XP points given for some harder-to-earn medals as well. Like 25XP for earning an overkill or a Killing Frenzy for example.

I see that screen shot showing additional gained XP, which i presume only counts towards the Battlepass?

Ok if that’s the case it’s kind of useless. Most of us will finish this 30 level pass in a week or so…

More importantly; Does this also affect the decrease/increase of our rank progression bar? For example, if you are “MVP” of the match do you can more overall rank?

Similarly to the other thread.

If you are referring to your skill rank.

No.

Anyone want to take bets that a lot of people will still complain after these are implemented. That they’re too hard?

Nowhere in the world praises mediocrity. Its already good enough that the xp system rewards you for at least being top 50%. Why would they lower it to 25%?

If the top players produce the best exp rewards, won’t that mean more players will be playing harder to win now then they did before out of curiosity? People already complaining about having to sweat in matches as is, this might make it even significantly worse…

I’m taking that extra xp as a reward for placement.

However, I’m the best in my friend group and I routinely if not always, place at the top of my squad. XP here Lazy comes.

kind of explained it. its inherently unfair since teams are made up of different skill levels. it will be the same people getting the extra xp over and over. tbh the whole system might be flawed but atleast 25% gives almost everyone on the team a chance to get the good portion of performance xp. 50% should be a smalller reward. 75% an even smaller reward and so on.

i dont think the system is that good but this would be the best middle ground

lol. you sure your friends arent going to hate you for hogging all that xp?

How casual does one have to play in order to be top 50% without looking like a sweat? Being top 90%, like top 3 players is a stretch. Maybe an idea like that is worth debating as a reward. But rank yourself in the scoreboard from 7-8 out of 12 in BTB is anyone’s game. But if you intentionally fool around and expect to be rewarded for it and wonder why you aren’t top 50%, its not the game’s problem.

Besides, play a game long enough and anyone will gradually get better overtime without even noticing yourself climbing the score ladder.

That’s like encouraging the current battlepass system. We all share the same rewards, no matter how good or bad you are. What happened to being rewarded better for personal performance?

The idea you’re going for is in the right direction. But the layout I see is wrong. At what point does anyone gain any consequence? Even in kindergarten, there were no bronze or silver stars. The best you can at least be given was a gold star for trying. 50% is trying.

Sometimes you are matched with better players, other times you are matched with lesser payers. This isn’t open matchmaking.

If you don’t perform in a game it makes sense not to receive so much - I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s not fair.

I have more concerns about how positioning will be implemented. Considering our ranked playlists comprise of multiple game modes. Slayer isn’t as bad but like when Halo Reach was released this type of XP progression promoted selfish play.

No collision does help the betrayals but when you’re not in a team unable to speak people will focus on being top two and will sideline the win over placement.

Personally I feel we should focus on team work being the benefactor and simplifying match XP to 1 point to a win 0 for a lost and (-1 for quitting (ranked only).

Is this new match xp beta only going to apply to levelling up your battle pass? If so then what’s the point? Everyone finishes the battle pass in like a month. What we wanted was a constant progression system outside of the battle pass.

Just seems like a pointless update to me, unless I’m misunderstanding

The career progression is coming. I don’t think anyone has pinned down Season 3 as the definite start date yet.

We’ll at least get to try it. See how it works with the battle pass. How it sits alongside the new challenges.

Baby steps. But at least we’re heading in the right direction!

Feels crazy to describe match xp like it is some revolutionary concept as it is hasn’t existed for over a decade. Although I think this bonus xp thing isn’t something to worry about. As long as the overall numbers are fair I can’t complain. My eyes are mainly set on the Career progression they mentioned as I have a lot of questions and want to prod the community but I am too new on the forums to make a post.
