Yes, they are testing the new XP system with a 30 level battle pass (free to all).

That is the game plan. We’ll see what the actual execution is of this new progression system.

Unless there’s a separate progression track or this replaces challenges, I’m not going to hold my breathe.

The roadmap beta will be updated after the beta update for the beta release of the match XP beta.
Please note that this info is still, in fact, a beta and the Greek alphabet only has one letter, sometimes 2. 
Subject to change and quality of life improvements seems to be 343 favourite words.
