Match Making Improvements

Oh no another topic complaining about match making. Just hear me out. Okay?

I really play Halo for the multiplayer and warzone. I don’t have any issue with warzone matchmaking as mainly I play with my friends on the weekend. But for me, the most fun is in arena playlist.

My biggest disappointment with Halo comes specifically with matchmaking in arena. I don’t care about reqs or any other thing, except, I just want good matches with players that are up to my skill level.

Lately, last 20 games I have played, 15 of the matches have been really off balance. My team will win with 50-25, 50-30, 50-15 type of scores. Out of those 15 matches, I have only had 5 games, yes 5 games which the game was really interesting and came down to the wire. Each team had players that contributed good amount of the score and in the end better team won. I can live with loosing 45-50, 48-50 or 49-50. Its when games get exciting, coming down to the wire.

So back to the point, I would really like to see match making improvements, where equal players are matched up. I have had games, where my team would loose 25-50 when, I have 15 to 16 kills and see players with 0 kills. I have played 5 games back to back and have 4 games where no one in my team would cross 5 kills.

Also, ranking has to be fixed big time. I don’t really care for playlist rank, however, if your consistently placing 1st place, even on loosing side, you should not have your rank go down. Also, when players quit. My biggest gripe in slayer and arena is when players quit, rank should not be effected for both winning and loosing side. I have played many games one loosing side due to players quiting and seeing my rank go down because of it. This should not be the case.

I agree. The ranking system is broken in Halo 5

I wish it actually matched you based on skill, because it currently matches on win/loss right?

That is the thing, I am not sure how they matching players. I feel like, when the game first launched, the match making was much better then the current state we have.

Another thing, I think would fix quitters is to show the map before the match begins and add a back button to allow players to leave once teams have been formed. This way, if players do not like the map in rotation, they can leave early enough or late enough before the match begins to allow new players to take the empty slot.

What Halo 5 NEEDS to do a better job of is it needs to recognize when a game is ending and not insert a player into that game and have that player lose whatever Arena REQ or such he or she has equipped for nothing.

Case and point, the other night I was playing Halo. I tried to get into a Grifball game. Halo injects me into a game that LITERALLY was ending. I entered the game saw one second of gameplay and finished the game 0-0-0. The team they put me on lost 5-0 saw I naturally incurred the loss even though I didn’t get to play at all. That’s actually whatevers, I’m not overly concerned about taking on the loss. What upset me is I had used a Legendary XP REQ for that Arena match and guess what Halo 5 decided to consume it. I got like literally NO XP FOR IT.

Seriously…why would you ever load a player into a match that was ending? Who thought of such a thing? (Rhetorical question, no need to answer).

I don’t mean it as Join In Progress. When your in a lobby, before the count down ends, that is when it stops. Currently, once the teams are formed and count down starts, you cannot back out. You have no idea how many time I finished a game walked away to do something quick and come back and see the map I don’t want to play in rotation or the game type. I should be able to exit the lobby before the timer finished counting down, and if I leave, it should find another player to replace my slot. Not after the game starts.
